Perfectly stated. I am so very angry. The visits should not have been held at the home but at a public place. May God strengthen Susan's parents and family and friends during this awful time.

Sherry - I felt that this was appropriate. The story could be read anywhere, but this was an opportunity to show that a picture is worth a thousand words. It needs no further explanation. What a sad, sad ending, and in the end, he turned out to be nothing more than a sick serial killer. What a piece of worthless scum.

We need to make a poster of that post and send it to Steven Powell in prison!

    God bless Susan's family.

    Thank you, Dave.

Hi, Nanna Frances - You are free to make a copy of this poster and use it any way you want.

    Josh Powell Poster

You can enlarge it, but you don't need to. It will save in it's original scale, which is larger than this image. Just right-click it and the first option is "Save image as..."

Yes, God bless Susan's family. This is a horror story no one should have to live through. Even Josh's sister is beyond grief. I'm dumbfounded, as we all are.

Josh was an absolute control freak coward. My prayers to the Cox family and all who loved Susan and the boys. No words can describe what they must be going through now.

Hi, Nika1 - He was a weirdo coward. Worthless. If he thought he'd be reunited with his sons in Heaven, guess again. They are with their mother and I hope that helps console the family. It's just deplorable.

    DAVE!!!!!!

What I simply don't understand is WHO decided that Josh had any right to see his children?? How could anyone think that his parental rights trumped the safety of his children??

I do not believe that Josh ever exhibited any concern for his children. They were pawns he used for his own evil, control-freak purposes.

I do so pray that from now on, any visitation with people this crazy will be at a neutral place. I bet Josh was working on the details of this for months.

DISGUSTING! I just can't believe that he outwitted LE and the entire child protective services.

Hi, Jnpgh - The court decided. As a parent, Josh had the right to see his children. The system didn't fail, the father did. They were with a case worker and when she was pushed away and the kids were forced into the house, the case worker immediately went to her car to make a phone call. She had smelled gas, but the house blew up so quickly, there was no time to do anything. This wasn't anyone's fault but Josh's. There's no doubt that he had planned this for some time. But no one could have known he was that unstable. He turned out to be a serial killer, but throughout history, they've been tough to catch because there are no outward signs. Who would ever think a father would do such a thing? No one, including law enforcement, the court system, and family members. Law enforcement had their hands tied by the courts. The shame of it is that he was never charged with Susan's murder, but it's all so evident now. And the boys had started talking about their mother in the trunk of the car and "daddy" taking her out of it.

No hope for children anymore. We look out our window and see children playing, in a split second they are taken and murdered. We look out our window and have no idea what may be ready to happen in our neighbor's home. We grieve for those so devastated and torn, knowing in time, there will be another innocent victim. Just today was reading MainStreamFair where she has listed some of the most recent painful crimes against children and adults. Some don't have a suspect in custody.
Apparently Josh Powell wanted custody of his sons only because he planned to kill them. What can
be done? No law is adequate enough to protect children from the people they were given to, for love and care.

Nope, New Puppy, there's no hope for children anymore. Unfortunately, there are never any outward signs until it's too late. Way too late! There was absolutely no way to predict something like this, but it does make me wonder... Why are there more crazy parents than years ago? Or is it just that we hear about them more often because of worldwide media and the Internet? We learn of this within minutes of it happening.

I don't think there can be a blanket law because each case is unique. Most parents don't blow up a house with their children inside. Even Casey didn't do that. But who's worse? There is no level to judge until the damage is done, and we can't turn into nervous watchdogs calling 911 whenever a parent... well, who would have seen any of this coming? No one.

I had thought when the Cox Family got custody that the state of WA was finally taking this seriously, that they were going to protect Susan's boys. Was I wrong!

RIP Susan, Charlie and Braden. May JP burn in Hell for all eternity.

I can understand why the court allowed visitation with Josh because he was, after all, the children's father. Unfortunately, no one saw this coming because there were no signs whatsoever. I don't know how the systems work in Utah and Washington, but here in Florida, grandparents have no rights. That's why Michelle Parker's parents don't have custody of her children. Unless there's a real threat to their safety, many states don't want to interfere. In this case, Josh never broke the law. However, there was something to the fact that a judge, on Wednesday, had denied his attempt to regain custody, saying she wouldn't consider it until he underwent a psycho-sexual evaluation.

I don't think you have to worry about Josh burning in Hell for all eternity. He wrote his own ticket to that location.

Grrrrrr! You may have to remove my post this time Dave..I'm so upset over this that I can't see straight.

They knew he was a dangerous person yet they let him near those precious chilldren? Why? Because he had "rights". What about using common sense for a change. This has gotten out of control since we made the Anthony's rich off of Caylee's death..Dr. Phil missed and opportunity on this one. He was slow on getting him on his show and buying him a few automibles. Baby Lisa's Mom already has the star studded attitude..Just check out all her new hair do's and make up..Yes! We the people and the media are a lot of the reason for some of this behavior..They begin to love all the attention and we feed it..I plead guilty as charged.

I hope the Cox family sues the pants off of everyone involved..Those children should never have been allowed close to that monster until he had gone through a metal detector and only then after he was put in handcuffs in a room with no less than 3 grown men.

CPS sends them there with a "contract" worker? What is wrong with this picture?

I see no reason to remove your comment, GLENDA. Sadly, states are saddled with responsibility, while at the same time facing possible litigation, and mounds of it. This was a bad case gone badder, but suppose Josh was an OK dude? Had the state followed your instructions, like those of countless others who felt the same way, he could have sued the pants off the court and state, and won! States cannot afford to be strapped down by lawsuits, so they keep maintaining a middle ground, and unfortunately, they fail sometimes. And up until yesterday's fiasco, who in their right mind would have guessed something like this would have happened? No one. I think we all suspected that he had murdered his wife, but just like Dale Smith, law enforcement has their hands tied behind their backs. There just hasn't been enough evidence to arrest anyone in either case, so nothing can be done. At least the court took away custody rights, but nothing would have kept him from doing this horrible act.

I remember Dirty Harry movies and how unconventional his tactics were, but he got his man in the end. Unfortunately, in the early 70s, it was the same thing. The perp has rights, you know. Fortunately, Dirty Harry always killed the right guy. In real life, it's not that simple, and no one can afford an oops moment.

My heart goes out to Susan Powell's family. May God bless them and may God bless the beautiful souls of the little Powell boys. In situations of custody disputes and visitation, IMO there should be a special "visitation" room in a local law enforcement agency where visits with the children can be held. If one of the parents is being held or is even suspected of a crime there should be no visits allowed for the suspect while investigations are on going. So, so sad.

So, so sad is right. If we could ever learn to read minds, we'd probably be forewarned. Until then, there's no way to know what anyone would be capable of.

This is from a piece up from GMA:

"At a hearing Wednesday, a statement from the West Valley City, Utah, police noted that information and images were found on Josh Powell's computer that "specifically related to their children's welfare," according to ABC affiliate KTVX in Salt Lake City.

The police did not specify what the information was, but Judge Kathryn J. Nelson ruled that because of that information, Josh Powell would not be allowed to have his children back until he submitted to a psychosexual evaluation and a polygraph test, the report said.

Bassett, Josh Powell's attorney, said the ruling was unfair to his client, who has not been charged with any crimes.

"Utah was dangling the alleged content of this disk. If this disk contains what they're saying it contains why haven't they arrested my client?" he said at the hearing.

The children were to remain with Chuck and Judy Cox until Josh Powell's next hearing, which was scheduled for July. Josh Powell was allowed twice-weekly supervised visitations with his sons during that time, KTVX reported."

So who the H&LL "allowed" the visitations!?
The state essentially allowed him to kill the two witnesses against him in a (probable) murder case- regardless of parental status.

You know, Karen, had the "case worker" been a local bar bouncer, I assure you he would never have gotten those children away from him. Unfortunately, that's not the way it works. No one saw this one coming.

I am so sick about this. I really have no words to really express how I feel. My thoughts and prayers go out to Susan's family. I can't imagine how they feel. Why couldn't he have just killed himself and left the kids alone? I don't understand why people that do these types of things can't leave the kids alone.

We're all so sick about this, Mary Jo, and you're right, there are no words. That's why I chose to do the image. There's no way to explain a monster like him. Recently, he said in an interview that there was no way he could have ever hurt Susan, and he said the same thing about his children. ALL LIES! His older son recently said that Mommy got out of the trunk on the night they went camping and he never saw her again.

Monsters aren't always strong. Josh Powell was the weakest kind, with no backbone or morals. He took the easiest way out. It was his cowardice that took his sons. He could never live with the implications that were now coming from his son.

    February 6, 2012 | Registered CommenterMary Jo

And what makes me even sicker is knowing that Josh's Dad sits in jail in protective custody..Something those poor boys did not have..That is what our justice system has become..Protect the slime and let the children walk right into the lions den. Turn that monster into the general population and see how long he makes it..He won't be running his filthy mouth much longer.

Didn't that woman have the doors locked on her car and those boys in car seats? How did they get out ahead of her? She smelled gas and ran for her life..Forget the kids.

My heart bleeds for the Cox family..They tried so hard and have now lost so much due to that egotistical coward.

It's my understanding that he ran out the door, pushed the woman firmly out of the way and ran inside the house, locking the door, long before she had a chance to do anything. It was over before it started.

which can express how I feel.
My Thoughts and heartfelt Prayers are with Susan's family. How much can a Person endure, I can't imagine what this family has been and is now going through. May God help them to get through this difficult time.
    Those precious Children!
Their Father managed taking their Mother away from them and now their own Life. I just don't understand any more what People are capable of.
If he wanted to kill himself, fine but taking his Children's Life, that is just sick and evil, they were innocent and had a Right to grow up and live their Life's. It makes me sad to know what People are capable of to do to their own Children.

Very well said, Hilde. He turned out to be worse than a murderous coward.

My heart aches for the Cox family...They lost their daughter and now they have lost their daughter's legacy...Someday, somehow I pray that Susan's remains will be found...Her life was taken by a selfish demon who wasn't satisfied by killing her but wanted to deprive the family that loved her and the boys...Here is another example of "emo personality"...If He couldn't have Susan and the boys, he didn't want anyone else to have them...How sad to know that we will never know from him his motive...we can only speculate...At least he did one thing right and that was to rid the world of one more devious, malicious, pervert...It's a shame it was the way it was...

Obviously, Estee, Josh Powell was a very insecure person. When the court took away his custody right, his world began to crumble. Actually, it started when he murdered his wife because he was hounded by the police and the media, and rightfully so. I guess he never thought it would unfold this way, but it did and only he was to blame. He died a broken man, but he did it to himself.

    February 6, 2012 | Registered CommenterEstee

Next to the Anthony Case this one was just as curious. Reading some of the above post's i doubt i'm going to provide any insight and or anything beyond what people are feeling but one thing I never quite understood...The children, some months ago, proclaimed that mommy was in the trunk...why was nothing more done?

Many people theorize that Caylee was murdered because she was going to expose KC of her lies; Caylee was telling more and probably had a habit of blurting out truths and or not able to substantiate "truths" being told to her? IMO the same holds true for the Cox(Powell) boys, as they began to age so does their understanding of what they see, it could be that they were about starting to remember particulars and were begining to speak to their social worker and or their relatives?

It is beyond words of sadness that these children had to endure their fathers hatred; it is amazing that parents could be this cruel and selfish...unfortunately our opinions of this person will be one of millions and in the end they will have no meaning until Susan Powell's bones are discovered...i do hope that the fathers bones are simply tossed in a landfill where he belongs. No words of kindness no observations of what good he was to society and to his family. I hope the Cox's, if they choose, hold on to the boy's ashes until such day when their mother's bones are discovered and they are laid to rest together...

I think the fact that the boys, especially the older one, were beginning to expose their father for the murderer he was inside was the turning point in Josh's life, and it was, obviously, a turn for the worse.

For sure, his crumbled bones will be piled upon the ash heap of other murderous souls. He will live in infamy, just like the Jeffrey Dahmers and Ted Bundys of the world, rotting in the hell they made for themselves. Good bye Josh Powell. Life is for the living. You brought only death.

    February 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBMan

tragic, truly tragic. but what if he is innocent? what if he was not connected to her being missing? and what if the pressure and scrutiny placed on him drove him to this? why did the state of washington remove the children from him? because of his fathers "alleged" charges? do we no for sure josh was connected to his dads "alleged" behavior? what if the vile and oppressive assualt on josh via media made him snap?

I know your opinion isn't be popular, Daniel, but I appreciate your thoughts. In my opinion, no one can be forced to kill unless backed into a corner, but I mean that as being an actual physical threat. If I were attacked, yes, I'd do everything to defend myself. In Josh Powell's case, no one backed him into a corner hard enough to kill someone. If so, he should have gone after the attacker(s), not innocent children conceived from his own flesh and blood. Those are the ones we hold sacred as parents. Parents do not slaughter their children like he did. No one forced him to kill. He had it inside, and this selfish deed was a veritable admission of guilt. He killed his wife.

As for the media, no, they did not create this monster. He did it to himself. You cannot lose a spouse without being probed and poked and scrutinized. He should have taken that into consideration.

    February 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterdaniel

To add further to Karen C's above post. If the children were allowed supervised visits with their father then why were the children inside the house and the social worker outside? And why were supervised visits done at home and not a neutral site? I guess we cant expect Dave to answer these questions but it does raise an eyebrow or two...

    February 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBMan

There's been plenty of examples of murder suspects (or POIs) who killed their kids during visitation, sometimes even during supervised ones. The children are considered property, just like the dead wives were. It's a pretty predictable behavior pattern actually. Generally the men present as a lot more macho than Powell did, true. I know we can't keep kids safe in every instance, but now these two are dead and I'd be amazed if a lawsuit doesn't follow. The system has to err on the side of the kid's safety, if error is to be made.

    February 6, 2012 | Registered CommenterKaren C.

    In response to Daniel:

AlthoughI understand your post one must remember he was the last person seen with his wife and they were heading for a divorce, It is further questionable that Mr. Powell elected to go on a "camping" trip in the middle of the winter season which was out of the ordinary in sub zero temperatures. Not to mention the children, well the eldest, indicating that mommy was in the trunk and then she was not. Mr. Powell was unable to give an exact location as to where he went camping which suggests something "hinky".

I do agree that society has a way of condeming individuals charged with a hanious crime but sometimes its best to go with your gut. Gut tells me the Susan Powell was murdered by her husband and he dumped/burried the body when he went camping...my guess is that she wasnt really burried but put in a place where she will not be found easily...

I wonder if this will possibility come to LE's mind in the Michelle Parker case. Surely there could be what they call a copy cat act by the father of these children, only he is such a cocky one he would probably just do it to the children and not include himself. I don't know from state to state how much more can be done to protect children but I would not be surprised now to read of another, as you well stated, cowardly act. This Josh should have been locked up, as Casey was, the minute he said he took the boys camping at 2am in the morning. How can LE see that as being anything but a lie. They probably were with him but not for camping. No parent drags a 3 and 5 year old out in the early morning hours for something like that. Not a real parent anyway! If these children knew they saw him put their mother in and out of the trunk, what did they know about how he killed her and what else was in their little minds. I am so very sorry to know human beings are capable of such things, It can be easy to start thinking they must be ill with the invasion of evil. Evil? We all have at least, a tiny crack, where it can crawl into our space. Most fight it and fill the cracks with love and care as a sealer, other's actually seem to love the hold it has on them. In my opinion, this sad story as do the many others, portrays that choice. He didn't have to do any of what he did, he could have stopped himself or asked for help. We know when we are not thinking right yet will avoid asking for help in our differing mental states. I heard the comment last night, "we don't know who we may be sleeping with when we choose to bring children into the world." Is it possible that some of the overflowing horror happenings are caused by the drugs offered as prescribed and over the counter. We still hear, cell phones may cause cancer in the long term close to head use. How do we know that the chemicals on some of the new popularly prescribed drugs are not just as invasive to the wirings in our heads. Nope, I don't think evil comes in a pill. What God meant in giving us free will, the choice between good and evil. To choose what God would have us do over our submission to Satan. Some will say, God could have prevented it and HE did not! HE gave responsibility to us, as parents and adults. Prayer helps!

I thought of the Michelle Parker case, too, New Puppy. Everything you said is well put. This is something that goes so deep into our souls, it begs for answers. What Josh Powell did was just as bad as what Casey was accused of. I wonder if the hatred for him will run as deeply.

I don't blame the social worker, she's just another cog in the machine. Damn machine is broken though. He wants to see the kids, let him take a mando poly. I have to take mando drug tests at my job, and if I were to refuse one it would be a problem. And that's just a job! He wants to see the kids let him cough up a plausible answer as to why the carpet was wet without hiding behind his lawyer. If he really wants to spend time with the kids let him do it in an office setting, with supervision, video, etc., so he can't coach the little witnesses. If he can't comply he doesn't see the kids except through Skype. They have rights too. Sorry, make that past-tense.

    February 6, 2012 | Registered CommenterKaren C.

Excellent points Karen C.!! Josh was the only suspect in the supposed death of Susan, yet his rights were above that of the children.

Question, If by chance Susan turns up alive, meaning if she just left her family on her own, can she be held responsible in any way for what ended up to be the death of her children.

    February 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterNew Puppy

The Court had many options concerning the boys and keeping them safe. Common sense should dictate if someone is a POI in a murder case, they at least have the potential to be violent. Given all the other information concerning Josh Powell, the Court should have made sure that NO ONE deal with him one-on-one (the CPS worker) in a private setting. Common sense should have prevailed. They could have easily made Josh come to the supervisor's office for the visit, sent another person with the worker, met in a public location - any number of options that would have insured the boys' and the worker's safety. This isn't hindsight. It's common sense that puts the best interests of the children FIRST. That's the purpose of the Court when a child is involved.

When you top everything with the information that the children had divulged regarding their mother being in the trunk the night she disappeared, and the environment in which they had lived with their father and paternal grandfather (most likely a sexual deviant/pedophile), how could anyone, let alone a judge, place those children in an unpredictable situation with a questionable parent. The Court can be so explicit regarding visitation orders that there was no excuse for those boys to be put into a situation where something could potentially harm them. Maybe no one saw this coming, but it's the responsibility of the Court to anticipate, discern, and act wisely.

Hopefully, this horrible murder of two innocent boys will change the way the courts and agencies protect children in the future.

While I agree K, it was a very complex case. The state of Utah was investigating the murder, not Washington, so there were bound to be holes because of that discrepancy. Certainly, Washington state couldn't have charged him with murder because, up until Sunday, no murder occurred there. In the charges against Josh's father, the court has no legal right to remove the children from his care. That's an issue that should be brought up with politicians in your state. The courts can have their hands tied behind their backs. Believe me, I agree with you, but unfortunately, there are no simple answers to complex problems. Perhaps, you're right. This horrible murder of two innocent boys will change the way the courts and agencies protect children in the future.

Dave~~ Social services spokesman Mr Shapley said the case worker who was with the children was not a Child Protective Services employee but a contract worker with a private agency, called Foster Care Resources Network. He said it was very common for case workers to be contracted from other companies.

Yes, Snoopy, and I see no problem there. A lot of states contract outside firms because they can be more efficient. I think if anyone blames that person, they are way out of line. Thanks for the info.

Powell, 36, failed to kill his sons Charles, 7, and Braden, 5, but still wounded them horribly before they died — smoke in their lungs — in the gas-fueled explosion Sunday, according to police and the medical examiner.

Just days before he killed himself and his two boys when they came to his Graham, Wash., home for what was supposed to be a supervised visit, Powell gave away his children’s toys, police said today.

Powell also sent long emails detailing what to do with his money, house utilities, and other aspects of his life to cousins, his pastor, and friends just minutes before he ignited the explosion that killed himself and his children and left his house a charred ruin, Pierce County, Wash., Sheriff’s Department Det. Ed Troyer said today.

He and the boys were found in the center of the home, next to one of two 10-gallon cans of gas in the house, Troyer said.

Dave, your poster is right on target...I am still in a shocked mode... When I read the first article on WFTV, it was only 41 minutes old, It was the casey story again. It knocked the wind out of me and as I read more and more, my hope that the boys didn't have time to be afraid, was all in vain. Those dear precious boys must have been terrified. I think Josh was covering his sorry, no good behind because the boys were beginning to talk. He knew his party was up.I read somewhere that josh's dad did not seem overly concerned when he was told the news.. Love was not in their vocabulary..Do I hate them as much as casey? You bet I do..God fogive me but I do. I only wish josh could have lived to pay for killing Susan. My thoughts are for peace to deal with this for the boys family... I read where josh's dad is on suicide watch. I say turn your back and let him do it, he is as guilty as josh.

Thanks, Margaret. This one has me quite perplexed, but after the dust settles, I think I will be able to explain why Josh failed the system - not the other way around. There's no doubt in my mind that his father is a real lowlife, and yes, let him commit suicide. His life is as worthless as his son's. I hate to admit that, too, but it's true. Anyone who would spy on his own son's wife on the toilet and in the bath is the scum of the earth.

Tiffany, i agree with you...why attempt to decapitate your children if the end result is you were blowing up the house...?

we may never know fully everything that surrounded this guy and what drove him to do what he did but his actions are beyond belief.

whether or not you believe there are places for those who do such henious crimes I for one hope such a place exists for those who do such things. I hope that his soul (if he has one) is committed to eternal damnation and he is subject to the same "killing" over and over again without compassion.

You know, when my husband had visitation he had to do it in public. They met at BK or Mickey D's. They'd walk through town to the movie theatre, and then he'd walk them to their Mom's. All in daytime, all in public, and he was not a Suspect or POI or anything possibly violent.

That's very interesting, Karen. I'm looking into the situation with Josh.

Josh Powell, "Iiiiiii AM NOT ABLE TO LIVE WITHOUT MY SONS" What an utterly and totally selfish thought and remark, the big "I" !!! In the probability that he had already taken the life of the mother of his sons, how self awarded he must have felt. With the evidence of his having hacked his sons then exploded their bodies in fire, was there no upbringing of decency and fear ever instilled in Josh. I read about his father and the environment Susan and the children were subjected to, haven't found anything about his mother, about her character. I don't believe in pointing a finger but how could someone not have realized something very disturbing about Josh. I guess no one really ever knows anyone else, even within families. How awful for the victims family, equally awful to have a child who could commit such acts. There is a war declared against our children. In the military wars there are always children at stake which we excuse by accepting it as a way of protecting the future generations. What generations? We can not invade the walls of a private family to protect the children when a parent/parents go mad.

It sure was, New Puppy. I have zero sympathy for Josh Powell and just as much for his sicko father. Now we have 3 family member dead at his hands, not counting himself. That made him a bona fide serial killer. In many cases, the killer never shows a sign that anything is wrong; not enough to stop people in their tracks, anyway. It was the same with Casey. No on in her family and none of her friends thought she would have been capable of killing her daughter until after the fact. No one could have guessed that about Josh, either. He proclaimed his love for his sons. Murdering them was no act of love. I'm going to write a more detailed article on who was to blame for this... in my opinion, of course. Boy, a military war is a whole nother ball game. There are a lot of unanswered questions, but I'm going to do my best to make things look clearer. When I can. I have a dentist appointment in the morning. After that, I'll write.

The father went public and stated how Susan flirted with him and he did likewise. Saying that he felt that he was falling in love with her and she him. How could any young husband accept such a thing from his own father. Could be the father was blaming Susan, could be he deliberately flaunted it to Josh. Josh is the killer but his father certainly needs to be classified as the worst filth on earth. Yes,I think the father knows what happened to Susan, what Josh did with her. Horrible thing is, Josh murdered he wrong persons.

I wonder if Josh knew at the time that his father was having sexual thoughts about his wife. What sort of father would do that to his son? I know it's not legally incest, but it's pretty darn close because she bore his grandchildren. It's downright deplorable. You know, New Puppy, you're right. Had Josh's father not been in jail, would he have murdered him, too? That would almost qualify as a mercy killing in my book. Sick, sick, sick!

Well here I am again and about yet another senseless killing of children by the someone they are supposed to trust the most.

I too thought of Michelle Parker's twins today. How is it that someone can get custody when a child old enough tells the court of violence in the household?! I think the Anthony case has done the legal world a disservice by being so public then finding Casey not guilty. No one ever tells people that "not guilty" only means there wasn't enough evidence to convict, not "innocent".

From all I've heard and read on Josh Powell it looks like they had enough to take him into custody years ago and should have right after his son turned in the picture of the family "camping" with mommy in the trunk! Josh Powell shouldn't have been allowed to leave the area! Someone mentioned on one of the shows that a law should be passed that if a father is being looked at in the murder of the child's mother, then custody should be given to a family member with no visitation, or only supervised in a public area until he's cleared.

Those two little angels are in heaven with their mother now while good ole Josh roasts ---literally. Now they are looking at Josh's father as a person of interest. The apple didn't fall far from that tree it sounds like.

I'm like the rest of you. Just disgusted.

Too bad, Connie, that the law was on Josh's side. As soon as I take care of all my obligations today, I'm going to be writing about this precise thing, so instead of doing anything now, I'll do it later.

Could these kids have been saved? I mean, really now...

Social worker's 911 call from Josh Powell's home

Is this the single dumbest dispatcher ever?

That dispatcher practically wanted to know what color the supervisor's underwear was before anything else. That dispatcher needs to be suspended or something. How insensitive. On the other hand, had the police raced to the scene, it would have been too late, I'm sure, and had they tried to break the door down, there would be at least two dead deputies. Josh Powell was on a mission to kill and he succeeded. He wiped out his entire family, including himself. If he hadn't died, I would have gladly pulled the trigger, and I'm not for the death penalty, but if it could have saved those boys, definitely, I would have done it.

Dave, I checked out the address on Zillow, and then mapped out the Pallyup PD. They may well have been close enough, straight down Rte. 161 there. Haven't checked out the location of the Fire Dept., but I saw this info on another site (that the PD was only several blocks away), and sho' 'nuff....

Thanks for the 911 call link Karen. This shows exactly how some of these people think and act. You know, follow the rules. "The first deputy AVAILABLE" OMG!!! It just got put on a list!!!
The on scene supervisor must have plenty to say about this all this.

The sheriff is quite unhappy with that dispatcher, New Puppy. I hope he loses his job.
