Retreat at Twin Lakes Walk Through

Just like the title says, this is a video shot at the Retreat at Twin Lakes, including some bonus footage. The video is a little pixellated. I think the camera and video editing resolutions and frame rates are different. I may try to fix it and upload it again…

After viewing the video, simple questions arose. The evening of February 26, 2012 was cold, rainy and wet. It was a dreary night. Why would anyone get out of their vehicle to search for an address that no one asked for? Why get out of the vehicle at all? Addresses were quite visible all around. Wouldn’t driving to the other side have been much more convenient? And drier? In my opinion, this only leads to one thing — searching for a suspect on foot. George Zimmerman never looked for an address. He was stalking his victim.

Tommy's Mom, I think GZ in his dreams wished for a situation where he could be a "hero". This situation was perfect for him. No, I don't think he was in fear for his life. I think he was itching to be able to use that gun. His simple comment to tell his wife he shot someone to imo shows he was somewhat proud.

Zimmerman is going for self-defense so therefore he is claiming that the altercation with Trayvon could have resulted in death or great bodily harm.

Well look at this. I am learning something new every day.... this info is at the link I just posted...

    790.06(12) - No license issued pursuant to this section shall authorize any person to carry a concealed weapon or firearm into any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05; any police, sheriff, or highway patrol station; any detention facility, prison, or jail; any courthouse; any courtroom, except that nothing in this section would preclude a judge from carrying a concealed weapon or determining who will carry a concealed weapon in his or her courtroom;

[Some judges DO carry guns, and some of them have pulled them out a time or two.]

Great video Dave. George claims to have gotten out to look for a street sign, in the reenactment. Then he changes it to an address, when he didn't see a street sign. On the Hannity interview, again he changes it. This time he was keeping an eye on where Trayvon was going and walking to meet a police officer, that he had called. ?????? Who did he call and when? I think the defense will have to go with your time warp theory. lol.

@Britt. You seem to be more concerned about Trayvon Martin being African American, than the facts surrounding the case.

[Zimmerman's story has changed 100 times, yet he still has a loyal following of supporters. Sadly, I am beginning to believe a good part of them are leaning that way because of racism. How could gun rights activists support a guy like him? What else could it be? How many bad guys purchased their guns legally? What makes Zimmerman so special? Because of the color of his victim? Tell me that's not it! Someone! Please! Britt, can you help me here?]

Dave, thanks for addressing whether George has to take the witness stand at his immunity hearing.

I am following the State v. Martin case on In Session. That case has already been decided -- guilty -- 25 yrs sentence -- but the defendant claimed self-defense, and he did take the witness stand. Watching after-the-fact, I hope to see his testimony.

There are two pending cases in Florida involving SYG. In both, the defendants were denied immunity. One is Anita Smithey and the other, John Orr. Orr's attorney stated that he was going to appeal the court's order denying immunity. I've not been able to find recent news on the status of Smithey's case.

What I find funny in a strange way is that these cases were pending when Zimmerman killed Trayvon. I can't help but wonder if Zimmerman read about them and thought that killing someone and claiming self-defense under SYG was a slam-dunk.

[My pleasure, Xena. I'm not familiar with the State v. Martin case, but I will make it a point to brief myself on it.

I had a great conversation with the attorney who spoke before O'Mara at the gun rights conference. He lost a SYG immunity hearing, too, but his case was a lot different. We both decided to discuss it further and I've yet to call him. I must do that because this would be a very good first person account of what it entails. It's an interesting story, too.

I don't know what, if anything Zimmerman knew about SYG, but it does make sense. After all, he immediately cried self-defense, so he must have known something. I'm telling you, as sure as I am breathing, he carried that gun in his hand as he pursued Trayvon. Whether he intended to kill him is another matter, but the fact remains he had that gun and a boy is dead. That's the truth.]

SnoopySleuth, yes, that is the Smithey case. John Orr was denied immunity in March 2012. His killed his victim in October 2011. Now that case is VERY interesting because Zimmerman mirrors Orr's claims. Orr claimed:
    He was attacked from behind.
His head was bashed on the concrete.
    He couldn't breathe.
He was pinned, unable to remove himself.
While pinned down, the person threatened to kill him.
When he was interrogated, he claimed suffering with Post Traumatic Stress.

Sounds almost as though GZ used it as a template for his own claims, down to being smothered and unable to breathe.

In Orr's case, the State provided evidence of the blood splatter pattern to prove that Orr was actually holding his victim in a headlock while stabbing him, and they also presented the lack of debris on Orr's clothing to prove he was pinned down.

I looked at these cases mostly to see how the State argues at immunity hearings.

In the Martin case, the surviving victim is Christy Martin, the woman boxer. I found a link that summarizes things up to jury selection.

I am responding to a comment I read regarding if the Truck was towed away. This particular officer called in two tags at the scene. Both vehicles came back to Zimmerman.

I still don't understand why they did not seize Z's vehicle and have it towed to their compound. This was a homicide and they knew the vehicle was his when they ran the plate number. The info re call on plate ATTS68 was bleeped out except for White-Station-Honda. What was the make of Z's vehicle?
