Family Response To Motion for School Records and Social Media and Why Trayvon's Facebook Page and Twitter was taken down after his Death

From Benjamin Crump, attorney for Trayvon Martin’s parents:

“Trayvon’s parents maintain that his school records and Facebook page are completely irrelevant to George Zimmerman’s decision to get out of his car to profile, pursue, and shoot their son in the heart on February 26, 2012.  How does George Zimmerman’s review of Trayvon Martin’s high school and middle school records and Facebook page bear any relevance to Zimmerman’s decision to pull the trigger and kill a seventeen year old child?  Is this going to be a new legal standard we are setting- for a murderer to review the school records and Facebook page of his teenage victim to determine whether or not he should have killed him?

“After Trayvon’s death, there was a small group of hateful and racist people, who attempted to destroy his legacy, reputation, and image.  These people hacked this dead youth’s social media accounts, his email account, and stooped as low as to plaster the internet with photoshopped and fake images purporting to be Trayvon. On the advice of counsel, and with the intent to preserve Trayvon’s public reputation, Trayvon Martin’s parents deactivated all of his electronic accounts.”

I don't think there's racial intent by questioning Crump's clientele. He's also a civil rights attorney and that would mean he represents a predominantly minority crowd, but that's only one facet of his practice. Look at Robert Cox, one of his attorneys:

nemerinys~~I asked a question of Dave re Crump representing white people to get an answer.
Would Crump represent me if I had a civil rights issue as a white person being run out of a predominantly black community or for punching a black person , in self-defense, who attacked me? If he refused to represent me then I would want to know why not.

Sorry, got a phone call and had to submit my comment before the time ran out. If Crump refused to represent me without a legitimate reason, then I would have to question him why the color of MY skin would make a difference in not being able to have counsel from an attorney who was experienced in civil right cases.

If it is the right for Crump or Jackson to give their opinions on what O'Mara states or motions he may file, then do not the Zimmerman's have the right to defend their son or brother by going on the media and give their opinions on Crumps and Jackson's statement. This is a two-way street so if this case cannot take place in a courtroom, as it should be, then let both sides make it into a media circus. Natalie Jackson mentioned that she was not sure if it was Robert Zimmerman Jr commenting back and forth with her on Twitter just as I am never sure who I am conversing with in here as some people come in here under more than one screen name.

Angela Corey and Bernie De La Rionda represent the state while Mark O'Mara and Don West represent Zimmerman. Should we not focus our attention on them instead of all the hoopla that is taking place outside of the courtroom?

I think the difference is Crump and Jackson are attorneys. The Zimmermans are not attorneys of Mr. Zimmerman they are family members. Their wallets are getting fatter every time they stop by a news outlet and drop the race crap. Guess it is okay if they talk about race but not anyone who feels bad for Trayvon and his family. Screen names are different on some other blogs too.

Nemerinys: I apologize for commenting after you, but adding the same links.

I am so very sorry. I didn't see your comment. The only way I can think of that I missed it, is that it was in moderation for awhile.

Either that, or I am just plainly going blind.

In either case, I apologize. Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ

nan11 - Actually, I thought your response was much better! And, yes, my comment was probably caught in moderation.

SloopySleuth - Mr. Martin retained Benjamin Crump to discover the status of the investigation and to pressure for answers from the SPD. After not receiving much information, Crump did his job by appealing to the press, including reaching out to Al Sharpton, who then followed the case for a couple of weeks before he used his show to add to the pressure.

The racial aspect, at that time, was primarily the fact that the SPD merely questioned and released a man who had shot and killed an African-American adolescent - no detention while the crime scene was assessed, no arrest. Zimmerman's attitude came under scrutiny because of his previous calls about black males, his conviction of his "suspect" as an "asshole" and a "f***ing punk," his repeated allusions to "they always get away," and his apparent lack of remorse for having taken a human life.

This racial element has fueled Zimmerman support sites, with racist epithets, caricatures, and fakery abounding. The Zimmerman family continues to say it's not a racial issue, and yet they have more than once contacted the Conservative Treehouse, praising commenters there for their support. The CT is one of the most racist GZ support sites.

So, when you asked about the racial component of Crump's clientele, I couldn't help but wonder why you thought it important, or why it might be more important than wondering, let's say, about the racial ratio of O'Mara's clients.

nemerinys - Your comment was stuck in moderation, but I let it out as soon as it showed up. Sometimes, they can be in a state of limbo for days. That's when I can't see them at all. Sorry about that.

I think it's quite obvious that some of the Zimmerman support sites wouldn't be there if his victim had been white instead. It wasn't just the Zimmermans that contacted one of those blogs, either. O'Mara did, too.
