Dave, thanks for keeping us up to date on all these motions and things happening with this case. I am not surprised that JP ruled the way he did. He did take his time and I am glad that he did so the defense can't come back and say he ruled too quickly. I think it is fine to have the jury decide if they think the testimony from Dr. Vass is something they want to consider as evidence or not. It will be a battle of the experts. This defense has to feel a little defeated after having all of these motions denied. I am so happy that this case has finally started. It has been a long road with many twists. Thanks again for this article!

It looks like the defense is looking for more money for additional hours of investigation. We are in jury selection right now so what do they have left to investigate? They should be all done with that by this time. I can't wait to see how JP rules on this one.

I got this from the my clerk my orange county clerk site.

    for Additional Hours of Investigation

Baez reminds me of a little boy out fishing in his favorite spot. Mom calls and he doesn't want to leave to go home. "Just one more I promise" . For someone who said he was prepared he sure is backpedalling on an issue that he should have settled months ago - before Vass's testimony in fact! I imagine IF there were other chemicals on that entire list that were relevant to this case it would been included in his report. He's still fishing!

I was right. I slept through most of it today lol. To me other peoples' lives are none of my business. Whether they can or can not make the trial is theirs and only becomes of interest to me after the jury is seated. Then the makeup in men/women/ages/etc. will interest me.

Hey Dave, busy busy Dave and everyone.

What a day today was. 50 or so potential jurors being told to go home for talking about the case, What part of "do not talk about the case to anyone" do they not understand. The person in charge of them really needs to watch them a lot better than they have. I am sure Judge Perry is not very please with whoever they are. Not a good day for Casey. Will they find a jury by Friday or Saturday, does not look good today. I hope this does not muddy the rest of the pool of potential jurors. This is a very slow process and I guess it does take a lot time. Jose trying w/o much luck to get Dr. Voss' testimony out. I felt it was like talking to a small child the way he was acting. I can not imaging how Judge Perry feels about how obtuse he is acting.

Well, day 3 tomorrow, hope it is a better day.

Peggy, it is sad that he had to send those 50 potential jurors home because one person decided to do some talking. From what I understand the person that was talking to them is also a witness in the case. I think that is a little unusual to have a potential juror also be a witness. Too bad that person just didn't try and call the court and tell them they were a witness and this might not have happened. I am sure they would have been excused. I hope JP can some how get back on track and get this trial started on Tuesday.

I had not heard that Mary Jo, thanks for the info. Judge Perry was right to send the 50 packing, what a nightmare that would be if it had been kept quiet and some of them had gotten om the jury. Talk about re-trial. I doubt it any of them want to go through this again. I am not sure the trial will start on Tuesday (I thought it was Monday), but hopefully Judge Perry will make sure what happened toady, won't ever happen again. Justice for Caylee, that is what we all want.

This video clip is very interesting. Most of the jurors in this group had already formed an opinion of Casey' s guilt.

To the Parrot Society at blog.com.... no one made a faux pas okay?

It is routine for a judge to ask the defendant if they want to plea before jury selection begins.

Are they still obsessing over me? Hell, the world keeps moving and they are stuck on one thing. If we add up all their gray matter, it won't equal one whole brain. Never did, never will.

Dave, Cheney Mason referred to bloggers as idiots. I am beginning to wonder just which blog he ended up at. I think a scientist left the cage door open and some lab rats got loose. This little reaction should be enough fodder for them and will satisfy the Parrot Society for the next few days. LOL

    Now back to business....

Here is Mr. Boedeker's latest. A good summary and a good read.

Casey Anthony: Are you ready for more jaw-droping?

Hi Dave , love what you are doing on OM. Keep up the great work!! Snoops I am so glad you are still here for my fears. I do not trust the male defense lawyers for a minute, would it be possible for Caysee and Baez to stage some sort of confict to bring this trial to a halt. They have publicized their little spat themselves by bringing attention to it in court. Since she has paid Baez and he is not court appointed, can she fire him? She could blame him for the rift with her family and God knows what else. He could walk away without a guilty charge on his record and she could get another 3 years without a trial. You always allay my fears with your answers , thank you so much in advance. It is time for little Caylee to get her justice.

I watched Nancy Grace tonight, it was really good. She was talking about Casey saying something to Jose and he told her she was acting like a two year old (odd comparison since Caylee was only two when his client murdered her). What did Casey do/say for him to say that to her? She sure was different today than she was yesterday. She could not sit still, playing with her hair, fixing her shirt, wiping up the table with Kleenex, making sure the pencils were straight. She was all smiles today too, yesterday she was crying. I wonder if they medicate her and forgot today.

Margaret~~okay my dear, take a few deep breaths and try to relax. I will do my best to allay your fears or hypnotize you. Surely one or the other will work. Remember, if I do not know the answer to your question, I do tend to make things up. LOL

Baez cannot quit being Casey's lawyer. That was stipulated when Casey became indigent. They have such a thing as an attorney advisor that the judge could order to help the defense if their lawyering became really bad. I am not sure if Casey could fire her lawyer right now. She would have to show just cause. Cheney Mason could always pick up the slack. I honesty do not think there is any friction between Casey and Baez. Casey does appear to lean more towards Cheney Mason. It doesn't look so bad when Cheney rubs Casey's back, sort of grandfather like.

Peggy, it does appear that Casey displays a lot of nervous energy. If I were in her shoes, my teeth would be chattering. I would not doubt that Ann Finnell is trying her best to groom Casey into acting properly in the courtroom. Casey has a very short attention span so someone would have to keep prodding her to " sit up straight and look like you are mourning the death of your child".

    May 10, 2011 | Registered CommenterSnoopySleuth

I sensed changes in Casey again today, too... her grooming was not what it usually is and I am wondering if the jail here does not cater to her and provide all the items she needs?... I particularly noticed her hair was just sort of "sloppy" rather than neatly arranged. She also looks tired. I wonder if her anxiety is not coming out in both her "neatness" behaviors and her striking out at Jose. Her childish behavior of moving away from him also makes me chuckle... She is like a little kid in many ways.
Control.. That's the word I want.. when Casey is not in control, we see her other little quirks... Wonder how sever those "quirks" became when she fought with her mother and left the house with Caylee.... Hmmmm
I am also interested in watching her behavior in regards to the men as contrasted with the women attorneys... She just does not even seem to relate to another woman... This may be one of the keys to her behaviors.
Another totally random thought.. Im watching this on Tru TV/ In Session and am becoming frustrated by their frequent breaks for commercials. Hoping they get the message that people are new to station and they are making bad impression on these newcomers!!

Casey said she left Caylee at Sawgrass apts on June 9th, 2008. Will this be used to say George lied
about seeing Casey and Caylee leave on June 16th, or what????

    May 11, 2011 | Registered CommenterNew Puppy

Lara~~I watch the jury selection live on the internet...no commercials and no buffering . I watched it at WFTV today but on Monday, I watched it on CNN live stream and you can see set it to full screen of your monitor.

New Puppy, Casey wrote in her statement that she dropped Caylee off at Sawgrass Apartments on June 9th. The error was later corrected when Cindy realized she and Caylee visited the nursing home on June 15th, Father's Day. That is the last know video of Caylee and Cindy signed the guest book at the nursing home on June 15th. The visitor books showed the names of Cindy and Caylee.

I am still not convinced that Geo saw Casey and Caylee leave on June 16/08.

    May 11, 2011 | Registered CommenterSnoopySleuth

I know Snoopy but today judge Perry made the statement that she left Caylee on June 9th, I was surprised to hear that, and thought it was important to not make a statement that had been corrected but maybe I heard it wrong. I'll go back and review that part of the video. We only have George's word that she did leave on the 16th. I have always wondered why nothing had ever been mentioned that the family squabble had upset Caylee the night of the 15th. If all went down the way it was claimed surely Caylee would have been quite upset. No mention of her being removed from that scene when it was going on. I do not recall Casey ever referring to that date. Maybe that was what the family row was about maybe there really was no Caylee that night of June 15th. Interesting how thoughts can be led in different directions. The more I think about it you could be right. Cindy said Caylee and Casey were still in their room, George said he saw them leave. Casey just MIGHT take the stand. Can that happen just before the the jury leaves to make a decision? I am not up on procedure of all the laws.
