In my new post, renowned attorney Mark NeJame explains George & Cindy Anthony’s motion asking the court to excuse them from the rule of sequestration. Should they be allowed to attend the entire trial?

if someone could tell me if i am right on my thinking here and i actually am understanding what might happen, There could be a delay in the trial because some news outfitts want to know where the jury is coming from?? and is this something the Defense would like to see so they have more time to prepare for the trial??? thank you!!! and hello to all
Yes, that is a real possibility, missbrandy37, but I don't think it would be much of a delay, if at all. The appeal court is quite aware of the situation.
I would like them to sit an listen to every single thing there daughter is responsable for .They will be amongst the first if not thee first wittneses to testify along with Lee.So I dont see how thay could tailor there responces regards others evidence if theve already done there cameos.Unless there subject to being recalled to the stand.Anyway the state has the depos to refresh there memorys.Missbrandy if the defence isnt ready to proceed after nearly three years then they never will be........Thanks for the article Dave.
My pleasure, ecossie, but I did read tonight (5/5) that the defense objected to it, so it's anybody's guess as to how the judge will rule. Thanks for enjoying the article.
I read your article on the Orlando Magazine site and I think I will continue to comment here in this forum instead of on that site.
I don't agree with Mr. NeJame for one main reason. Facial expressions, body language, etc. could possibly have an effect on the people in the courtroom and that includes the jury. George especially has problems keeping his reactions to himself and that could become a distraction. As the trial goes on also they are going to be seeing a lot of gruesome photos of the remains, etc, (that won't be shown on camera) and keeping them out of the courtroom would spare them that. I think it would be better for all concerned for them to watch it online when they get home if they want to see it. It's extremely irritating being a witness and having to wait outside for your turn IF it comes at all the day you're supposed to show, and for them to come each and every day and not be able to sit inside the courtroom must be breaking their hearts. I feel for them, but I also feel it's the best for all concerned. Yes, they are relatives of the victim, but as grandparents they are considered extended family. It would be as next of kin of the accused that would bring them to the courtroom.
I don't know if witnesses are even allowed to bring a laptop to the courthouse to watch the proceedings. I would hope not, but even if they do they won't be exposed to as much being outside the courtroom as in and neither will the judge, lawyers, audience and jury.
Did you read the objection the defense filed today? Casey doesn't want her parents in the courtroom. That's a real slap in the face.
In the courtroom, laptops are forbidden, but anything with a virtual keyboard is allowed. That's why I was out shopping for an iPad today. To be honest, I don't think laptops will be allowed on the 23rd floor because there will be no lingering. If you're not in the courtroom, you won't be able to hang out at all.
conniefl ~~I miss this place too. What contributions I make to get a little action here go unheeded. I put several links along with info on the UH OH post and I don't know if anyone even bothered to read them. I do comment at OM and have been busy at my own sandbox. I hope more people comment here.
Hi Dave
very interesting article. I do not know if it will change anything if Anthonys are or not in the courtroom. But I guess it will change perhaps defense attitude and approach , Casey (or her attorneys) do not want her parents to be present, there is a reason for that and i'm sure they are preparing something for the trail.
many thanks for your work..you will be prepare with your Ipad to give us the last developpements :-) take care & have a nice We
yeah Snoop, I think I hear crickets in here now :) I saw your links but I go to your Nan's News Nook every single day, several times a day so I had already visited them.
Yep I saw where the defense doesn't want George/Cindy in and I'll just bet it's because they plan to throw George under the bus. I'll just bet that's also why her parents are so admant about seeing her untaped BEFORE the hearing. I'll just bet the first question they'd ask is "why?". Not going to happen. Judge Perry has said over and over ad nauseum that he has no control over the jail and what they do or don't release.
I am pleased you have the job with the Orlando magazine and see that you are sitting right behind the People Magazine rep in the courtroom plan which is cool. You're moving up in the world Dave.
I don't post on the Orlando Magazine website because I just don't like signing up for things like that. There are very few if any blogs or websites I sign up for. I'll keep y'all's spot warm right here with all the crickets. :)
You know, Connie, you can easily post over there anonymously and you won't have to sign up or anything, if that's more convenient for you. Either way, you know that my door (here) will always be open, so feel free to sweep the crickets out the door.
You know, I've met and conversed with the People magazine writer on several occasions.
Ooooh! IPad- hubby wants one now, too, had to go to the Apple store to deal with our new phone issues. Be interesting to see how this works out for you in the Court.
Snoopy, dang, I've been tres busy so when I've taken a break I've been at OM to yak or your place. I can only read a para or two of whatever links right now but it's pretty clear what's finally taken form in Mason's head. Only question right now is- Delay or Nay?
Well everyone as i have watched some orf the jailhouse tapes this week on HLN,Ithought of Susan Smith and the elaborate tale of her boys. She could only hold onto her lies for just a few days and she had to talk and tell the truth, George and Cindy were groveling at her feet for infomation on Caylee. She is so stone cold that she is enjoying every minute of having the upper hand. She really feels she has done nothing wrong and it will soon be over now. My thing with Cindy and George in courtroom alltime is going to be stuff they haven't had the gruesome basics of it all up until now. I wonder if they will be able to handle it. Then again maybe seeing it all the way through it help them realize she really did this, Maybe that is what it will take to make the blinders come off and know the truth as bad as it will hurt them. Maybe then they will be able to get on with some kind of life. What they hear in courtroom snd see is totallt going to devastate them. IMO
