Thanks for the insight Dave.
However, as much as I enjoy reading your articles, I would put a lockdown on future speculation regarding how things could have happened. It's obvious the bloggers are working out the kinks for the defense. By reading these websites, they've been able to alter their strategy and pull together a scenario that can explain what would otherwise be unexplainable.
I'd rather go without your predictions and miss out on your speculations than let them feed off of you.
I must say, I rather disagree with that opinion. I think the Defense cobbled this Frankenstein Monster thing of theirs due to the rulings more than any musings on any blogs, although it's a provocative idea. I just think the Defense had nowhere to go but this direction (they've been sending vague smoke signals to this effect for a while now), 'cuz there is a dead body in the d*mn car and Perry's left them no way around it. Now, asking George to hold a lead anchor while he's being made to walk the plank- that's just out-of-bounds!
Karen, I see what you're saying, but I still think defense found some useful angles from the better blogs, MD's as well as a few other notables. The opening statement stunk of Baez's efforts to marry all the theories into one cohesive explanation (although we all know he failed on a grand scale). But I just see him and his team perusing the blogs for real time feedback to modify their strategy as the case progresses. I'd rather leave them to their own devices or in my more devious mindframe speculate wildly ridiculously and see if they bite. But that's just me.
They did cobble their case together - that's true. But virtually nothing Baez said wasn't already hashed out in bloggerland. Would they have had as much of a story to weave if we hadn't openly wondered if they considered this or that? I'm not so sure.
Even now I do wonder if they will explain this and prove that, but I won't spell it out because I want to leave them as much rope as possible.
Personally, I don't see how Baez can back up all the things asserted in his opening statement. It will be a long time until closing statements and boy do I think things will be a lot different when they come...
I would just rather stick to discussing what was already presented and not pointing out the gaps or where they need to go next
cereusle~~If Baez is getting any ideas from this blog or a couple others, he doesn't know how to copy and paste very well. Us bloggers, would never come up with a ridiculous opening statement like the one Baez gave. I will give him some credit as he almost made a believer out of me in the beginning but when he brought up the Kronk issue, he eliminated George by default. The man just doesn't know when it's time to sit down and shut the he** up. Today when he talked about guns, knives and box cutters, he made a total imbecile out of himself. He is trying to be another Perry Mason. And speaking of Mason's, I wonder if the white bearded one will do some cross examining.
I wish I had more time to answer comments, but this schedule isn't giving me much flex time.
I know, right?
Did you see Casey buy gun at Blockbuster?... I laughed my head off at that.
Yes, his opening statement sounded good for a minute, but he kept going. If every lie hold a grain of truth or you pepper a bogus story with truths - then for the teller it's easier to try to pass the lie off as truth because you do believe the true part and for the listener it's hard to know where the truth ends and the lie begins.
I always said I knew when my ex was lying because the more of a lie it was, the longer the explanation (story).
Maybe Casey was "abused", but I would better believe it was a strict and withholding father who shunned her when she behaved badly, wanted to hold her accountable and doled out praise only when it was merited, maybe even spanked her, but it was not sexual.
I agree he's looking for the "aha" moment, as if he could pull OJ's gloves out of his hat. Ain't gonna happen.
Dave, I'm sure everyone knows and understands you're busy. Take care of yourself and congrats again on the OM assignment. Hope your folks are doing well.
