Hi Dave. I listened to you on Simon Barrett today or the first time. You were so fair and you spoke so eloquently. I am so impressed with you. Big hugs!!!

At one point in the show when speaking about Cindy Anthony one of you said that “Victims don’t hire lawyers”. I disagree with that Dave. I am a victim of stalking. Snoopy, Karen C and a few others know of my situation. That subject was the first time I ever commented on your blog and it was the first time I “met” Snoopy and Karen. They’re very special ladies, by the way.

I tried to divorce my husband. He threatened me. He tried to break in to my home. I was awarded a restraining order. He violated it 19 times. Stalking and other criminal charges were brought against him.

The only other way to maintain contact with me was through the courts. He filed multiples civil lawsuits against me; forcing me to hire lawyers to defend myself against his stupid lawsuits. I appeared at every court date and I won every suit he filed against me, but he would appeal every decision to the Supreme Court, causing me to spend even more money on lawyers’ fees. This was brought up in his criminal case because he was harassing me and stalking me through the courts. His lawsuits were deemed legal because it is his right to due process. I had 3 lawyers in my divorce process and at $500.00 per hour, for almost 2 years my divorce wasn’t cheap. I am a victim of multiple crimes, and I had to hire a lawyer in order to keep the possessions I worked for all my life. By the way, he was found guilty in the criminal case and was sentenced to spend 2+ years in prison. It’s “Googleable”.

This isn’t about me – it’s about the Caylee Marie Anthony case, and everyone involved in this case has had to hire an attorney in order to save their reputations. This makes these people victims of Cindy and Jose.

Good night everyone. I hope you have a wonderful week.

A clarification: one lawyer for divorce case; one lawyer for NH Superior Court case and one for the Supreme Cpurt case

That's a horror story, Carmen, and I'm so sorry you had to go through a living hell like that. People get attorneys for lots of reasons. If someone is arrested on trumped up charges, they get a lawyer, despite doing nothing wrong. People are sued over lots of issues and each side may think they did nothing wrong, yet they both retain attorneys. No one can make a blanket statement like that, if you did nothing wrong...

Thank you for listening today. Please do it again.

Carmen~~thank you and I hope everything is working out good for you now. If I heard correctly, I believe that Dave was for the vicims hiring an attorney. I know quite a few in the Anthony case had to lawyer up.

Dave~~I found the blog radio show very good today. The chat was travelling at the speed of lightning and hard to keep up with but all in all, it was a great show.

Thanks, Snoopy. Yes, the chat was rather quick, and the show was very good. I spoke with Simon afterward, and he thought it was a great show, too.

Carmen, what an amazing story. I am glad that it turned out so well for you. I hope you can finally have peace.

Dave, The radio show was very good today. Your part in the Case against Casey was very good, very informative. As Snoopy said the chat went well too, a really large group and it was hard to to keep up. But even with so many people it was a good group. I always enjoy Sunday afternoons and these radio chats, thank you.

Thanks, Peggy. I noticed it was a large group in chat, too. I think it got up to 144 at one point, but the main thing is that everyone seemed to be very polite. That's always a good thing. I'm certainly glad you enjoy listening and contributing. It reminds me of the old radio Fireside Chats that FDR used to give, only today, it's on the Internet with lots of interaction. We've come a long way, baby!

Dave, good job on Simon's show today. There were a lot more people in the chat room this week than last week I thought. Lots of new names. When Cobra gets talking it is hard to get him to stop. He is passionate about the Haleigh case. I was glad to hear that Christy is getting somewhere with LE.

Thank you, Mary Jo. All in all, yes, it was a success! Cobra and I sometimes talk during the week. I really like the guy. Hey, maybe I'll hire him to dig into some not so nice people running around the Internet.

Dave, Your input was excellent, I have a barrier up for Peter because he really speaks with authority that I know he does not have. Instead of adding as an opinion, he tends to be a "that's the way it is" Frankly, I believe Cindy and George needed a lawyer, however, it appears they did not show the appreciation Brad Conway deserves. Nothing on EquuSearch, I was surprised, but TM has said it all anyway, Regarding the Cummings case, my thought has always been that Ron himself knows exactly what happened to Haleigh, so when Cobra said he thought something happened before Ron went to work, he could be right because Misty seemed to be just following a plan or order which she made that phone call to 911, timed perfectly by the way. I also believe Ron has discussed with his mother what happened. These are just my hunches, not even opinions. Wish you had participated more today, you came across very clear, no static today. Good job! PS. What could have been the purpose of Ron cleaning and washing the guns. I find that very unusual before giving them to the authorities.

Hi, New Puppy - I don't know enough about that Cummings case to answer questions about the gun, but your hunches are very believable. Something smells rotten in Putnam County. I wanted to go into TES, but we switched gears. That's OK. As for the statement that "if you didn't do anything wrong, you don't need a lawyer" just doesn't cut it with me. People hire attorneys for all sorts of reasons and in most instances, criminal attorneys handle other venues, as well. It reminds me of the other saying, "If you've got nothing to hide, why worry about it?" when it comes to the police searching your house. To me, that's an invasion of privacy. It's got nothing to do with doing something wrong or not. Anyway, thank you very much. I'm glad you listened!

I heard the show save the part with Christy. From reading the chat, it sounds like she is finally getting some help to find her son. I'm happy to hear that. I plan to listen to the show again tomorrow.

Dave, you did make a great point about having a lawyer even if you aren't guilty of anything. I was surprised that anyone on the show's panel would even think that is odd to lawyer up if innocent. Keep up the good work!

Hi, Sherry. I was kind of surprised, too, but I guess that wasn't the real focus. People retain attorneys for lots of different reasons. When I was busted on a marijuana charge back in 1975, I wasn't guilty of doing anything wrong, but I still needed a lawyer. Thank you. I will try to keep up the good work.

    August 22, 2010 | Registered CommenterSherry

Hey Sherry, your right it was strange that the panel did not think that everyone should have an attorney. As Dave said, Cindy and George have/had/have/had an attorney. There are no rules on who should/should not have an attorney.

    August 22, 2010 | Registered CommenterPeggy222

I agree today was a good show. I think every situation is different re hiring a lawyer if you aren't guilty of anything. Even though the Anthonys brought on a lot of their own problems because of the way Cindy conducted herself with the media from day 1, if I had hostile people protesting in my front yard as they did I may have felt the need for some legal protection......but then I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been out there watering my flowers with a hammer in my hand. I do understand the point the panel was trying to make though....Cindy destroyed evidence before even calling the police so she was never "really" innocent in this case and that is more than likely why they needed legal advice. I don't know if Cindy maliciously destroyed the evidence by cleaning the car but she did it all the same.

    Dave,
I am now having a problem posting.
Have had coming into my email address from your site. Weird.
Will explain more, if I get through.
I go the the Preview Site, get the IE shutdown.
Loose my comments, gone. Am I getting hacked?
Do not want idiots getting in.

You may have gotten an e-mail from a post I took down and re-published titled "Inaugural poop and other morsels" which I originally ran after the presidential election. Several people alerted me to the e-mails. There may be more if I put posts back up there after taking them down. I'm still trying to work out kinks between this blog and my old one, so please bear with me.

I don't know what you mean by the preview site that locks up IE. What I am going to do this week is set up a subscription link from this blog to replace the one over yonder. I will put a post up over there announcing it, and then I would tell everyone to unsubscribe to the old blog. I hope that makes sense. Also, I am going to send you an e-mail from SQUARESPACE with a screen name and password. The only thing that will do is eliminate the moderation purgatory you are dealing with now when you comment here. I will do my best to straighten this mess out, and I'm sorry for any inconvenience. - Dave

I think I've finally figured out this cursor thing, here!
Carmen, your kind words are lovely but quite unnecessary- anyone should be willing to give some meager support to a person in your situation. Will check out the recording of the radio show asap. I can say that may parents wished they had provided me with a lawyer during my situation (long story- my attempted-rape perp escaped from the Roxbury District Courthouse at some point during a preliminary hearing I had not been informed of. I have long harbored suspicions he was basically "let go" to save Suffolk County the expense- none of his other victims wanted to go through with Court proceedings- Silly Me! And with all the heinous murders there, well...). A lawyer would at least have been able to inform me immediately of the turn-of-events and dealt with my landlord who refused to refund my deposit ($1000.00+) because I hadn't given 30 days written notice! So, yeah, completely innocent folks sometimes need a lawyer just to steer them around and keep the other schmucks honest...

    EGADS, Karen, what a horror.

    August 23, 2010 | Registered CommenterKaren C.

Snoopy, Karen and Pegy, thank you for your kinds words. Karen: you went through hell and I'm so sorry to hear that you were almost raped. That must have been such a horrible experience for you. Cases at Roxbury District Court always seem to be on the news and they show some pretty rough looking characters in those court proceedings. You must have been so frightened. Take care everyone.

But the thing is Carmen, weird as it sounds now, what happened to me wasn't personal. I was just some oblivious college kid heading off to the library to get some overdue books in the slot before 8pm! I just happened to be heading along the Park with my arms full of heavy art books and momentarily vulnerable. He didn't know me and could've cared less. What you went through- that's worse when it's someone you know, or thought you did. No enemy can be scarier than a dangerous Ex! Kudos to you for keeping things together as well as you have- I love seeing that you are commenting again, that you're with us.

Snoopy, thank you so much for the egg recall info. I've been through my fridge today, thanks to you!

Simon does sound a bit pompous at times but his wife is a lovely careing lady I listened last week. When they anounced the confirmation that Erik had been murdered,She apeared to be in floods of tears an unable to compose herself she was so upset. Its touching to know that people genuinely care about the storys they are reporting on.
