Fly Robyn Fly, Lie Casey Lie

    No Pie in the Sky

“One of the biggest things that truly cuts me when I hear them talk about me as a mother – I was a great mom! And I love my daughter with everything that I have. I would give my life to have her back even for five minutes.”

    - Casey Anthony, in a letter to Robyn Adams

Today’s discovery release includes letters Casey wrote to fellow inmate Robyn Adams, who was later transferred to a federal penitentiary. She was convicted of selling drugs. In one of the letters, Casey told Robyn about paternity tests that were taken to determine who Caylee’s father was. Jesse Grund took a test and he was ruled out. She never reveals who she thinks fathered her child. She also said she miscarried in 2007 and told her brother, Lee, about it. He told Cindy about the miscarriage on Casey’s 21st birthday.

    Jail Letters

    Transcripts and LE documents

Casey repeats over her version of what happened to her daughter - that she left Caylee with a nanny named Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez and - POOF! - she and Zanny were gone, never to be seen again. Of course, law enforcement debunked that story.

She also wrote about having periodic seizures while in jail.

Most of the letters were published months ago, and their content was already discussed, but it doesn’t hurt to refresh what we learned then.

In her conversations with investigators, Adams claimed that Casey made two references to the nanny. One was that there was no Zenaida, and the other one claimed that she and Zenaida were childhood friends. I must make clear that jailhouse snitches are not credible, so this will probably never see a courtroom. Adams told authorities that Casey gave her daughter “stuff” to make her sleep. They discussed chloroform, and Casey said she would give Caylee “antihistamines or something” because she had problems getting her to take naps.

Casey said she asked Zanny to watch Caylee so she could prepare to move out of the Anthony home completely. She had saved up money. “Unfortunately, my plans got beyond tangled when Zanny wouldn’t tell me where she and Caylee were.”

She claimed she was an emotional wreck and was sexually abused by her brother. “I woke up night after night with my sports bra lifted over my chest or if I had a regular bra, it would be unhooked.” Lee would walk into her room at night and feel her breasts.

“When I told my mom about it two years ago, she made excuses, saying that he was sleepwalking. Not only did she say I was lying, but when I explained everything, her reaction was literally like a knife in my chest: ‘So that’s why you’re a whore?’”

It’s interesting to note that Casey also claimed she thought her father did the same thing when she was much older and that she sought help from a doctor when she was 18. It’s also interesting to note that no doctor (that we know of) has stepped forward to back her accusations.

Liz Brown works for the DePaul Center for Justice in Capital Cases. She was listed as the contact for the defense team after Andrea Lyon left. Yes, the center still fights the death penalty. She issued a statement that said the letters “reflect the natural desire for companionship when isolated for 23 hours a day, and clearly demonstrate Casey’s unconditional love for her daughter, Caylee. Despite these intentions, it is obvious in the letters authored by Robyn Adams that her sole purpose and only goal in corresponding with Casey Anthony was to create ‘leverage to get out of prison early.’ Furthermore, despite numerous inaccurate media reports, the letters written by Casey Anthony do not contain a single reference to chloroform or any admissions of guilt. Casey Anthony maintains her innocence and looks forward to her day in court.”

Pictured above are River Cruz (Krystal Holloway) and George Anthony. River claimed that she and George became intimate after Caylee disappeared. George emphatically denied that. She said her cell phone showed images and text messages that backed up her contention of an affair. She said that George told her that the death of his granddaughter was “an accident that snowballed out of control.”

At the time, Brad Conway was the family attorney and he stated the affair never took place.

Today’s discovery contains photos, text messages and contact information that OCSO took from a Samsung phone in March of this year. Whose phone was it? You can guess, but the above photo was taken from it, and one of the text messages listed in the “Contacts” was George saying on December 19, 2008, that he was, “Just thinking about you! I need you in my life.”

    Dear Dave,

Hello thanks for the two updates on doc dumps---almost as good as "dump" cake at the holidays. No one in our family are hunters but a friend of ours brought us 25 pounds of venison steaks and roasts. Soooooo being in Texas we are having venison steaks and tamales for Christmas at our daughters house.

That sure is a cozy picture and that sure isnt Mrs Anthony. I have always been of the opinion if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, etc. What would be a reason for George to be taking pictures of any woman other that his wife on his cell phone or hers-----I am from the old school. George, read your Bible and pray. Not being judgemental here either but it couldnt hurt.

Lori Cree was affliated with TES from Sept to Dec/08. She got to know Cindy and Geo and she did searches with others on her own before joining TES. She was present when Tim Miller got frustrated and approached the Anhonys and said they need information from Casey. That is when Geo went to Casey and she agreed to point out on the map where TES should search. Once Cindy found out told everyone to get out of the house, including Geo. Tim and his crew stayed at the Holiday Inn near the airport. Lori said that Mark NeJames was there. Mark was still representing the Anthonys. Lori said that Tim put Geo up in a room at the Holiday Inn. From all accounts, Lori said that the water was too deep to search the area where remains were found. In Nov, it was still very mucky and she lost her sneaker when she sunk in the mire. From all the conversation that Lori heard of, they felt both Cindy and Geo knew that Caylee was in those woods. They thought Geo was going to break and tell them but later Geo went on a news outlet saying Caylee was still alive (Cindy's brain washing-my own words)
Joe Jordan was among the team of searchers, and there were many when Lori searched out at Suburban. There was no mention of a Laura Buchanan. That is what I learned from the interview. Keep in mind that some of what Lori told LE was hearsay.

    Dave,
Will try again to write. Thanks, so much, for linking your bloggers to the new docs. So much easier than looking everywhere. It so sickens me that these convicts finally decide there is a God. He's been there all there lives, untill they commit a crime. He's not going to save them now - even though they think so. Not going to happen. Your work amazes me and thank you for being so efficient with your blogs. You are the best!

Dave, I love the new banner. Thanks for having the links to the latest doc dump here so that we don't need to go searching other web sites for them. It makes things so much easier.

Hi, Martha - I've been a busy beaver today, so I'm rather late responding. I'm not familiar with "dump" cake. I decided to look up a recipe for it and it's interesting. I'll show it at the bottom of this comment. I used to eat venison while living in NJ. The deer are bigger there than in Florida and less gamey. I've eaten steaks that you couldn't tell the difference between deer and beef. It's been many years now, but I would not go hunting for anything. I never killed a deer.

Personally, I doubt George fancied River all that much. Maybe her bank account more than anything else, but she did say the relationsgip was never sexual. I suspect he wanted the type of companionship you get from a platonic relationship. Obviously, it didn't last, whatever it was. Yes, I'm from the old school, too, but I've got a lot of female friends who are just that. Close, but not "that" close.

    DUMP CAKE

This recipe is designed for kids to bake. It's incredibly easy with no mixing involved. Canned fruits are dumped into a baking pan, topped with cake mix, butter, and nuts, then baked. The result is something in between a cake and a cobbler, and amazingly delicious. Adults will also love this recipe.
    Prep Time: 10 minutes

    Cook Time: 1 hour

Total Time: 1 hour, 10 minutes

    Ingredients:

1 (20 ounces) can crushed pineapple, undrained
1 (21 ounces) can prepared more fruit cherry pie filling
1 (18.25 ounces) box yellow cake mix
2 sticks of butter or margarine, each cut into 12 slices
1/4 cup chopped nuts (your choice - optional)
    Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (325 for glass baking dish). Have a 9 by 13-inch baking pan ready.

Dump undrained pineapple baking dish or pan and spread it out evenly.

Using a spoon, dump globs of cherry pie filling evenly on top of the pineapple.

Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over the cherry and pineapple layers.

Cut butter into slices with a butter knife and place slices evenly over cake mix.

Sprinkle nuts on top if you're using them.

Bake for one hour. Use heavy oven mitts to remove the dump cake from oven or let your older helper do it.

To serve, scoop cake out with a large spoon like a cobbler, and dump it on a nice plate. A scoop of vanilla ice cream is delicious with dump cake. Serve warm or cold.

Yield: about 10 to 12 servings

Snoopy - Thanks for the info on Lori. Personally, I don't think G&C knew the body was in those woods, but had I grown up in that neighborhood, I would have thought of thought of that first, but not exactly where she was later found. From making a lot of trips down there, I would have looked where the PIs went and more east from that point, not west. Before it was cleaned out by LE, it was downright inhospitable. Nasty, actually.

    December 17, 2010 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Simba - I enjoy putting up all the links and doing some sort of write-up. I'm glad you appreciate it and I feel the same way about your kind words in return. I sure do hope I'm interesting enough to be amazing to you, but amazing is a pretty strong word. I'll take it, though. Thank you.

Oh, jailhouse religion, that's what they call it. When faced with a bad situation, like a long prison sentence or death, it's amazing how many prisoners have a "come to Jesus" moment. It's almost a miracle!

Thank you, Mary Jo, I'm certainly happy you like it. I had to travel all the way to Idaho for that picture. You are quite welcome, too, for thanking me, and thank you for that.

Dave~~River Cruz was on blog radio. Andre had a post up about it, recently. River admitted sleeping with George. A fellow named Levi runs that blog radio. It is the first time I listened to him. River said she lied to LE because she was so embarassed. She gave Geo approx $4200. It was a very interesting radio show...River is on at the first...I didn't bother to listen to the guest panelists who was on after Cruz.

Re Joe Jordan, I listened to the first 20 min or so...Joe had said previously that Laura Buchanan called him twice. In this interview, he said it was only once. ??

Cindy knew Caylee was in those woods. Why didn't she want Casey to co-operate and show TES where to look on the map? Why did she throw everyone out of the house? Maybe Cindy was/is defending Casey because she feels she is responsible for the Casey's actions??

Very festive banner! Dave, why aren't you dressed like Santa?

    December 17, 2010 | Registered CommenterSnoopySleuth

    Dave,
Thanks for another great article, and beautiful Christmas Banner! I really don't know what to believe anymore. So many lies have been told by so many people. Personally, I think River C. is a skank, and interjected herself in the Anthony situation with a purpose. I feel sure she phoned
the newspapers, Enquirer and talk shows, Lillian Glass etc...Just my opinion, of course. I just know that I will be so glad when this trial is over and justice will finally be served for precious
little Caylee. May she rest in peace.

    December 17, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterHelen

Love the title on this post Dave. I sometimes wonder how you come up with some of your "stuff".

Now what blog does Andre have for those of us who care to read about River Cruz changing her story on the relationship between she and George.

    December 17, 2010 | Registered CommenterNewbie

River admitted to sleeping with George, Snoopy? I guess it's a matter of he said/she said, but I don't find her to be very trustworthy. I am not convinced that Cindy knew Caylee was in those woods and until I see her charged with obstruction of justice or something related to it, no one can prove she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt. I wonder why no one else who lives in that neighborhood didn't sniff around there, either. I will, however, agree that Cindy would do just about anything to defend her daughter, but I am not convinced that she believes 100% that Caylee is dead.

I'm glad you like the banner.

    December 17, 2010 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Helen - Thank you, I'm glad you like it. Personally, I agree with you about River, but I have to admit that I know virtually nothing about her.

    December 17, 2010 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Hello, Newbie! You know, I sometimes wonder how I come up with some of the titles, too. They just pop into my head and out they come. By the way, I don't really trust River Cruz any more than you.

Hey! Thank you. It's always a pleasure.

Newbie, I apologize. It is Andrea, not Andre.

    River Cruz Talks

    December 17, 2010 | Registered CommenterSnoopySleuth

'Snoopy'. I listened to River's interview in it's entirety, including the discussion by the panel. When we first learned about River, I believed her claims. But then her sister started to do interviews and had some trouble answering questions...and that very well could have been because she didn't know the answers and didn't want to guess. But it was enough to make me reconsider my belief in River...not change my mind and think that she lied, just left me a bit 'iffy'. Not completely convinced. But then I heard the entire interview+panel and almost immediately, I BELIEVED River 110%. Absolutely NO doubt in my mind. Of course she could be a great actress but I don't believe that. She answered every single question presented to her and she answered clearly with explanation. She did not hestitate at all when asked a question. Never. No pauses to think up an answer or remember a rehearsed line response for the question. IMO, I have NO doub that she's telling the truth and I did say that on Levi's page which got me a personal 'thank you' from River herself. Personally, after all she's been through, I was happy that my comment made her happy. A lot has happened with this woman. She's yet another victim (though indirectly) of Casey Anthony. (yes, she knew he was married, and had an affair with him. Not saying that was right...not by any means. But she does have the right to stick up for herself and she sure did during that interview!

Thank you Dave for putting the links up for us. Why are they including the Halloween Monster Mash video and I'm wondering who made it?

The first time around I didn't read Casey's letter to the other inmate, I cannot stand her hand writing and it does give me a headache. This time I glanced at it and noticed how she said Jessie was a loser and his Dad thinks he is the right hand of god. Those two comments proves she is a user and manipulator and to say those things about the two men who cared a lot about Caylee goes to show she is worthless. The person who is sitting in jail and talking about God is the loser!! Also the one who tried to say that Jessie was the Father, that to me is a LOSER!! Casey rambles on and on with someone she does not know because she is lonely with no companionship, that is her fault.

    December 17, 2010 | Registered CommenterJanet

Dave~~I am in here relating things I heard. I am not saying what River Cruz said was gospel. I haven't the slightest idea if she is telling the truth or not. That goes for George and Cindy too. Maybe they all should be nominated for sainthood and Casey should go free. JMO

    December 18, 2010 | Registered CommenterSnoopySleuth

snoopy...I was arguing/disagreeing with your comment about River...I'm sorry if it sounded that way-I didn't mean it to. I just wanted to share my thoughts/opinions/observations from the interview.

    December 18, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterstef

I think justice for Caylee would be quick if Casey were released Snoopy. We'd then be looking at whether George killed Casey or did Cindy? You think Baez and Cheney would be hired by either? lol

River Cruz/Krystal Holloway probably has some truth in her statements but which statements?

    December 18, 2010 | Registered CommenterNewbie

I just listened to part of the recent interview with River Cruz. In her interview with detectives she stated it was cash that she gave George. In the new interview she talks about checks and her bank.....hmmm.
She may be listed as a Prosecution witness but I sure can't see them using her at trial.

    December 18, 2010 | Registered CommenterNewbie

stef~~your comments were fine. In fact, there were very indepth and I agree with alot you wrote. My comment was directed at 'disagreeable' Dave. I was being sarcastic to him. LOL

Thank you, Dave for yet another excellent article about this case!
I too, love your new banner! Is it a Thomas Kinkade? It looks like one to me.
Did you really go all the way to Idaho for it? If you did, that is so very cool of you!
I love Thomas Kinkade's "Light Art"!
Thank you to both Snoopy and Stef for the info you posted about River's interview and Lori Cree, Joe Jordon and your opinions as well! I won't have time to listen to them myself for a few days, so that gives me plenty to consider until then! I appreciate the links too, Dave and Snoopy!
Wow, that "Dump Cake" sounds bizarre, Dave- especially if you don't prepare the cake mix first as directed on the box? Or did I misinterpret the recipe, perhaps? It might be edible if it is prepared first and then layered on after the fruit. But then it says "no mixing"... Maybe I just need more coffee before I can decipher a recipe! LOL
Janet, I thought that Monster Mash video was lame. Does anyone know who made it? I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere.
Monday's court hearing should be interesting. We'll see if Casey's "boys''" let Ann Finnell talk this time, without interruption!
    Am I confused, or are these letter's of Casey's just released part of the set of her letters we have already read? If so, I don't wish to go through that again (headache-inducing, to be sure!);
but if they are different ones, I would read them.
Thank you in advance for any replies. Your banner was the thing that finally got me in the Christmas ("holiday" for politically correct people) spirit. I was having a tough time with that this year. Many thanks, Dave! My apologies for such a long post. Love to all of you!

    December 18, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSuzanna

Hi, Y'all. Thought I'd catch up given a nanosecond to do so.
Dave- thanks for the dump cake recipe- it's now a doc (before I just sorta had it memorized- better this way!) Deelish!
Snoopy- I listened to that River Cruz interview- yup, I'll second Stef on this one- River comes across as very credible here. I can completely understand her earlier ambiguity about a lot of things, not wanting to be seen in a negative light- who amongst us would want to have to admit to giving George money and having any sort of sex with him (under those circumstances especially?)
But, does she have anything truly valuable to the criminal case against Casey? How badly does the Prosecution want to damage George's credibility? Much might be decided upon only when he's already started on the stand- does he go ahead and lay it out about the smell of decomp, etc., the way he had at the very first- being somewhat forthright with LE, before it all became about "saving Casey" (and I think he was at that time hoping for a deal for his daughter). Does he come to the stand in complete denial?
Now, for the current and former writers and researchers on this case, River is a gold mine...

    December 18, 2010 | Registered CommenterKaren C.

I'm late returning to you, Janet, but thank you for acknowledging the links. Yes, Casey's handwriting can drive a person mad. I think Casey, like other narcissists, feels like she is on a mission of empowerment. I'll be writing more on that soon.

    December 18, 2010 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Hi, Suzanna, I'd never heard of a dump cake until yesterday, and I don't think it would be something I could eat.

As for the article, thanks, but it wasn't all that much. And the banner? No, I didn't go all the way to Idaho. I just know it's a beautiful state and that's a beautiful image. It's a kinkade, alright, and it's called "Village Christmas". I'm very happy it got you in the Christmas spirit! Much love to you, too.

    December 18, 2010 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Hi, Karen - I'll pass on the dump cake. Too much sugar.

I think the state will go easy on George most of all because he is crucial to the prosecution, although his statements were recorded. It's much more credible when the person is sitting on the stand, live, and the jury gets to hear it and see it up close and personal.

Thanks, and if you make that cake, let me know what you think.

    December 18, 2010 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Great article Dave and I enjoy the commentary.
Dump Cake is fairly common here in MI. It gets its name because you dump all the ingredients into a pan and bake. You can pretty much use any dry cake mix flavor and fruit combination that sounds good to you. It is a lot of sugar and a lot of fat so it's something I stay away from too. I'm curious if you still have your gall bladder Dave. Since I had my gall bladder removed 2 1/2 years ago I have to be extremely careful about eating anything with a high fat content.

Back to Casey's tale...If Casey was willing to point on a map where searchers should look, wouldn't that be an admission of guilt? Just the fact that she was willing to point but Cindy put the kabash on it tells me she's guilty. If she wasn't guilty wouldn't she be saying, 'I don't know where to look'.?

    December 19, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterPatti O

    Hello, Patti O! Thank you.

If I could eat dump cake, it would have to be a sliver, but I'd definitely try it.

I'm sure if Casey placed her finger on a map, it would point to the Sawgrass Apartments. Then, shs'd say, "No," and move her finger over to Blanchard Park. "That's where the nanny took her. Take your pick."

Good evening Dave and everyone. Thank you for giving such a glowing report on the hearing today. I was unable to watch it as I had a hair appointment this afternoon that I would not give up even for a doctors apt LOL. Since we are leaving on Saturday I have to get all these appointments. taken care of. I was wondering about the "secret" witnesses that they are planning on having at the DP stage of the trial. I thought all witnesses had to be named before the trial started. I do find it interesting that they are talking about the DP part a lot. What did Casey look like when they were talking about it? The last time you had said she looked like she finally figured out that she may be in trouble. But the last one they had she was all smiles and playing with her hair.

We had another snow storm today, I can not wait to get out of here.

Oh how silly of me Dave. I was going by what they were talking about on JVM show tonight. I have way to much going on. I am packing for three months and praying that we will be using a lot of our summer clothes down there. Last year I took only summer clothes and it was really cold the year before I took a lot of winter clothes and it was really warm. I can't seem to quite get it LOL. Oh well, at least we will be out of the ice/snow and hopefully cold.
