WE ARE NOT A NATION OF QUITTERS

Ten years ago, terrorists took to the skies and used commercial jets to wreak havoc on the United States. What transpired that day will forever be etched in our minds. I know I will never forget what I was doing as the travesty unfolded.

This is a day to reflect on what 9/11 means to each and every one of us, from all ends of the earth and all walks of life. Feel free to share your thoughts on what transpired September 11, 2001. Are you afraid Al Qaeda will strike again? Are we more secure today or have we fallen back into complacency? Whatever thoughts you have, please share them. What were you doing that fateful morning? What does 9/11 mean to you? What do you remember most about that day?

I’ll start it off by saying that, although I am against the death penalty, I was not saddened to learn of Osama bin Laden’s sudden and violent death at the hands of Joint Special Operations Command forces working with the CIA. In my opinion, war is a different breed of animal and we must do whatever it takes to survive. Al Qaeda is like a thief in the night. They and bin Laden instilled a tremendous amount of fear and trepidation in everyone and it’s something that will never go away; not in our lifetime, anyway. Nothing will ever be the same. Any innocence we still felt and yearned for were gone the instant the first plane struck. Al Qaeda is a hidden enemy hellbent on destroying everyone in their path, and they will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. The only rules they follow are their own. In my opinion, we should show them no mercy. What do you think?

Sadly remembering..Flying flag for all that were lost and all that were heros.

Dave, that is a great picture! This is the first time I have seen what the new WTC tower is going to look like. I am proudly flying my flag to remember all that were lost that day. It is a day that I will never forget. I was at work that morning and my office was in the basement of our building. I had gotten the news from another co worker and was able to find a TV that I could bring down to the area where my office was so that we could watch it on TV. There were a couple of my staff that left that day because they had family that lived in the area of those towers and they needed to make sure they were okay. They were lucky to find out that their family members were not hurt that day. This is a day that we will never forget. God Bless America and all of those that lost their lives that day!

An unforgettable day, with memorable stories of heroic actions, and tragedy hitting people of all ages, races, religions and cultures reminding us that this is a day to honor all our human family members, no matter what color their skin we all bleed red.

I think so, too, Mary Jo, and I hung our American flag proudly today.

Hi Dave, thanks for putting up the pictures and Animations, replacing your banner for today. I may live in another county but I have adopted the United States as a friend and an ally. My oldest brother became a nationalized United States citizen and now my daughter now lives and works in the US. Her husband has dual citizenship, the UK and the US. You can say that I have a bond with the US and have made many friends, especially you, Dave, miles may separate all of us, but as the crow flies we are all very close and we believe in the same things.

There will always be terrrorists and fanatics and the greed for power but we have become stronger instead of being torn down by the radicals, as is and was their goal.

These structures, pictures are beautiful! Thank you! Dave, you ask, "what do you think"? I believe we must realize that the USA is not so untouchable that Evil can't seep in and destroy. I believe we must give more serious thought to the September 11th 2001 attack, not only in prayer, also in our individual lives, although separated in distance from the area itself and even though not everyone lost a loved one, we have all been affected and future generations will know that we are not so powerful that we can not be destroyed. Why do these horrific things happen? All over the world, as we know it, something is going on just as devastating to those in it, as we were. I can't think of a generation of peoples who have not suffered great losses. I believe we must stand strong in faith, in our generosities, in our love of mankind. I believe there is a God of Christianity, that He knows all, that he would not have us turn our back on Him because of our pain and anger. It is always a difficult decision and as natural as any human function at which I fail over and over. I believe in conveying goodness from inside the circle, outward, instead of chasing off to the rim trying to convince others to be like us, trying to say we don't hate, we love! Yes we love, but we mostly love people and things we are pleased with. "Love the Sinner, hate the SIN"! Hard to do?
Very hard to do, especially when so often it is the innocent and good which are taken from living out
their life by such a cowardly act.

Hi Snoopy - One thing is certain, the United States and Canada have always enjoyed an incredibly friendly relationship. To me, it's as if we are one nation, and it doesn't matter which one. I really appreciate the friendships we have developed on the Internet, particularly from blogging, and especially you, my best Canadian friend and one of the best friends I've ever had.

Yes, there will always be terrorists and we must always be on our toes. That means Al Qaeda will gain more sophisticated weaponry and we must forever stay a few steps ahead of them. Unfortunately, we are not fighting a country, we are fighting religious fanatics, and it's impossible to read people's minds. We can't tell who they are. It's a war we'll never win, but we sure will be able to keep them at bay.

    I hope.

I agree, New Puppy, they are beautiful buildings. I also agree with your assessment that we will always face evil. The US is not exempt, and the more we have, meaning wealth, the more elements in society want to take it away. You are so right in saying that we mostly love people and things we are pleased with, and at the same time, the ones that suffer the most are the innocents. The cowards that call themselves Al Qaeda will never rest until the world is left with only those who believe in their doctrines. Of course, that day will never come, but even if it could, they are so into death that they would eventually turn against themselves. Too bad we can't figure out a way for that to happen now. Then, they would self-destruct. Sadly, something new would come along and take their place. I guess it's human nature.

I WATCHED THE 911 PROCEEDINGS ON THE TELEVISION SUNDAY. AND I AM GLAD THAT THEY MENTIONED THE TWIN TOWERS, THE PENTAGON AND ALSO FLIGHT 93---ALL OF IT COMBINED BECAUSE SOMETIMES THE NEWS TALKS ABOUT THE TWIN TOWERS MORE. ALL THOSE PEOPLE WERE IMPORTANT. THE MEMORIAL AT THE TWIN TOWERS WAS CERTAINLY BEAUTIFUL. THE MAJOR AT NEW YORK SAID THERE WOULD BE NO CLERGY INVITED TO THE PROCEEDINGS--DONT UNDERSTAND THAT. SO I WAS GLAD WHEN SPEAKERS MENTIONED GOD.

THE WATERFALLS WERE BEAUTIFUL. I THINK THAT THE MEMORIAL IN PENNSYLVANIA IS PROBABLY PRETTIER IN PERSON THAN IT LOOKED ON TV--IT WAS KIIND OF PLAIN. THOUGHT THE BENCHES AT THE PENTAGON WERE AN INTERESTING IDEA. JUST KINDS OF MY THOUGHTS ON THE DAY. 9/11 WAS OUR FIRST INTRODUCTION TO SATAN'S POWER AT OUR DOORSTEPS. A PERSON IS NAIVE I THINK IF THEY DONT BELIEVE THAT SATAN STALKS THIS EARTH LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO DEVOUR--THAT WE SHOULD BE PREPARED AND WATCHFUL. DONT HAVE TO PRINT IF TOO PREACHY

No problem printing your thoughts, Martha. What happened that day is something that brings out a lot of raw emotion. I cannot say this with any authority, but I would guess that if clergy and prayers were allowed into the ceremony in NY, that would have to include Muslim clerics. Sometimes, I abhor political correctness, and in this case, I don't think the people congregating at the site would have appreciated that. Consequently, it was probably best to leave all religious ceremonies out of the official program.
