Hi lilredkayak - Bill certainly is one-of-a-kind and a real treasure in this area. I hope he continues to offer up his opinions on other crimes now that this one is dried up.

I appreciate that you have enjoyed reading my blog. Thank you. I plan on continuing - but I'm not sure which direction yet.

    July 18, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Thank you for those links, Snoopy. They sure did come in handy. Do I think Geraldo ill take Casey in or help place her in a safe location? No. He and Baez are tight, but not tight enough that he would jeopardize his reputation. She is way too toxic.

    July 18, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Hi K in AZ - That's funny! Sad, but true. She will, no doubt, look at herself as a star and pat herself on her back. Eventually, her star will fade and only notoriety will remain. Do I think she would ever comment here? Not a chance.

    July 18, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Good morning Lisa PNS FL - I'm sorry I'm a day late with my response.

You are a wonderful mother and you gave great examples of how to raise a child right.

I am very sorry about the loss of your mother and for all that you have been going through. I quickly brushed up on the Brooke Astor story and I do remember her. At least, your mother's affairs were in order, although that's no consolation. Please keep in mind that I am here on my blog and you can contact me any time you want, here or by e-mail. Please feel right at home. There are tons of nice people milling about. As much as you thank me, I thank you in return. I appreciate every person who stops by. Most don't leave comments, but they're here just the same.

    July 18, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Yes, southernlace, kudos to Bill. He's such a fixture in our homes now, he's like a good friend. Let's wait and see. If I can connect with him, I'll let him know about how my blog's readers enjoy him. If nothing else, it will be a well-deserved compliment.

Hi eviemae - Yes, life has its twists. And turns. I hope the twists turn into no contracts for Casey.

You have a great day, too!

    July 18, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Howdy Laurali! I'm sorry I'm late.

You know, I sure don't want any physical harm to come to Casey. To hurt her in any way would be as bad as what she allegedly did to her daughter. Two wrongs don't make a right, in other words. We have had our share of threats from the weirdos out there, but it's tenfold for Casey. Because of her infamy, she will remain in a prison of her mind, forever having to watch her back. At least we can find solace in that.

I don't want to see her on TV period. Good or bad. She needs to get over herself.

    July 18, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Hi Nika1 - Yes, the video did help allay ome of the anger over the verdicts. Some, but not all. I agree with you, too, about her infamy never fading away because of her narcissistic ways. She's got to be center stage, and she reminds me of a narcissist from California who attacked me relentlessly. Like Casey, she could do no wrong.

God forbid that Casey hides her past from a potential suitor and any future children. Personally, I think her brain is way too screwy now to even think about anyone else in her life.

    But she will.

Dave~~here is a tidbit that I found rather interesting. Baez is being a tad picky it seems.

Jose Baez doesn’t sound interested in a producer’s $1 million offer to interview Casey Anthony.

“I heard just heard on your network someone is claiming that there is a deal for a million dollars. That is not so,” Baez told Geraldo Rivera tonight on Fox News Channel. “I was going to meet with the individual and hear whatever offer he wanted to make.”

That person, producer Al Taylor, told Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro that he had an agreement with Baez. “We have a verbal agreement,” Taylor said. Taylor said the interview was going to be as soon as possible and that Anthony would be hooked up to a lie-detector. Taylor said he was looking at several TV personalities to interview Anthony.

    Baez dismisses $1 million offer

Dave, Please contact him, it would be so great to have him comment here. Let's get his e mail address so we can tell him how much we appreciate him.

    July 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commentersouthernlace

You know, Snoopy, I was channel surfing last night when I stumbled upon Jeanine Pirro's show. Having gotten to know her, I decided to watch, so I saw the entire transaction unfold. After the producer, Al Taylor, told Jeanine that the deal was made, Baez came on Geraldo Rivera's show, which followed Pirro's, and said it was not a done deal. Because of the producer's claim, Baez said he can just forget it; that he wouldn't be doing anything with Taylor. That was very interesting. I believe Taylor's crowing was a bit premature, and that was annoying to Baez. For that, I don't blame him. It Taylor was a professional, he should have kept his mouth shut until signatures were affixed to a binding contract. Once again, there will be another issue over who said what.

    July 18, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

I could try, southernlace, but something tells me he wants to talk to big networks first. I'll give it a thought, though.

    July 18, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

    Morning Dave & Everyone,

Million dollars for an interview with the liar of the century? Lol...what a waste of time and money. As if Casey would ever shed any truth on the death of little Caylee. Although the networks are desperately trying to keep this story alive, it appears the public is losing interest as most of us won't buy into better and bigger lies as it's yet another insult to Caylee's memory. She has NOTHING, no additional information to offer to the public now. Baez will soon realize that his goose that layed the golden egg is merely fools gold.

Really enjoyed the radio program yesterday Dave.

    July 18, 2011 | Registered CommenterRedrelaxed

Hi Redrelaxed. Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the show. So did I.

I think Casey has reached a point of no return. By that, I mean she could have been found not guilty by a jury of her peers, but society as a whole disagrees. While I do not wish Casey ill will in the form of physical violence, I do think the public has every right to ignore her. Even if she did not murder her daughter, she still acts like someone who only cares about herself. We don't have to accept her into our lives in any capacity. If she ever plans on blending in with society, she's got to earn it. No need to worry about that. Her life is a maze of lies.

    July 18, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Let's see how long it takes for Casey to go to her parents home and claim Caylee's ashes. Mason said she needs to start the grieving process, well i think that would be a good start. But in all honesty i don't think it will happen.

    July 19, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterterri

Hi terri - After the trial, Casey walked away from her family. Unfortunately, that includes Caylee.

    July 19, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Dave - Please explain how Caylee's body being tossed into a swamp in a laundry bag (the type found in the Anthony home) and left to decompose doesn't require that SOMEONE be held accountable for a crime?? Is there any possibility that additional "different" charges can be filed against Casey for her complicity in disposing of Caylee's body, even if it were an accident, which we all know it was NOT. Also, if the defense felt that "George did it," then why are no charges being filed against him? We still have a dead child, no matter what the verdict. Why is there no accountability? It's like, oh well, we have a verdict, forget the dead child and how it happened. Forget the duct tape, Winnie the Pooh blanket, etc. Where is justice for Caylee? Is it still considered double jeopardy if it's connected to the same crime? Such a free pass for an obvious crime is unconscionable.

July 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterK in AZ

Hi K in AZ - There will be no justice for Caylee until the person responsible stands before God. It's the same with OJ. He was found not guilty. Why he sits in jail today has nothing to do with the murders of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson. They will never see justice until OJ meets his maker. That day will come.

In both cases, law enforcement and prosecutors brought the right person to trial. There were never any other suspects because the evidence trail led to only one suspect. Yes, we still have dead people, but everything went through the court system. No one failed the decedents. The court did its job. So did law enforcement and prosecutors. The court is not foolproof. Humans are not perfect. Therefore, we sometimes fail.

Think of the good that Caylee did. If not for her, how many of us would have had the opportunity to become friends? How many of us would even know we exist? You see, out of bad, something good arises. Look at how many people in the world she touched. Her mother will be forgotten one day, but she will live on in our hearts and minds. She's got God on her side.

I've never had to seriously think about the Death Penalty one way or the other because there is no such thing where I live. Many, many states of America do not have the DP as an option. Shouldn't the UNITED States of America be on the same page on such an important issue? I don't understand the legalities of it all other then I know the people vote on these kinds of issues. Florida (and various other states) voted to keep the Death Penalty sentence option.

The USA is the only westernized country who have opted to continue to penalize by literally using an eye for an eye tooth for a tooth method of punishment. But only certain states. That makes no sense to me. Then I question where do you draw the line? Who decides what crime is worthy of capital punishment and which is okay to plead out and accept LWOP? Premeditated or felony murder of one or a hundred? One is as important as one hundred in my mind. Also what about the abused children who die? Sounds like felony murder to me.

I personally feel that Casey Anthony committed a horrific crime and then danced on her daughter's grave for 31 days before getting caught. For the last 3 years she and her lawyers have lied and twisted the truth and made a mockery of the justice system by working out legal loopholes even under the watchful eye of Judge Perry and as he frequently said, "It is what is". I believe him.

I wonder how much support Casey Anthony would have gotten if the State of Florida had not chosen to go for the ultimate punishment. Sure she had her media hungry attorney(s) instigating and feeding the media circus but maybe the other attorneys and hanger ons wouldn't have joined in if they weren't fighting for "the cause".

I've thought long and hard about it and have decided I'm personally against the DP. No matter what atrocity has been committed just lock them up for ever and ever and throw away the key. In solitary confinement.

I wish Casey Anthony no physical harm but it crossed my mind the other day that she really is in danger. A seriously delusional mentally ill person could take matter into his/her own hands believing God has spoken to them, etc. What a way to live. She's infamous not famous.

    July 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterTerrytsk

Hi Terrytsk - In the US, and I can't speak for Canada, citizens are very particular when it comes to states' rights and how independent they can be from the federal government. States' rights are very important because they help with the checks and balances that keep the feds at bay. We still have a US constitution that trumps the states, but there's no federal law that mandates the death penalty. The judicial branch allows each state to choose on their own. Of course, it depends on how liberal or conservative the Supreme Court is at the time, and as it trickles down to the states, each state enacts laws governing punishments. I moved from NJ in 1981. Several years ago, the state abolished the death penalty. Personally, I'm glad it did. I am against it and it's cheaper to house an inmate for life than it is to execute, considering appeal after appeal after appeal. You know, I spoke to a lot of people who work at that courthouse and many of them told me - off the record, of course - that this WAS NOT a death penalty case. Some of these people have years and years of experience in that courthouse, although they were merely voicing their own private opinions.

In retrospect, had the state not aimed for the sky, would they have gotten the pie instead of the tart? I don't know, but I'm inclined to think that a lengthy prison term would have been more palatable to the jury than death, and Casey might not be free today. I think she would have been convicted.

    July 19, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

I absolutely do not believe the video of Casey when they found Casey's remains has been taped over and destroyed. This is bull poopie! That tape is alive and well and will be shown eventually.

    July 20, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPatti O

Dave, obviously I don't understand the US legal system. State versus federal, judicial branch, etc. That was my point. It just seems odd to me to think that someone could be a self confessed serial killer in one state and the ultimate penalty would be LWOP and in another state someonein the same country would get the death penalty for armed robbery and an accidental shooting occurred. Horrific crimes. I'm not minimizing the brutality of either crime or the need for justice for every victim. I'm sure as hell not deciding if this was or was not a Death Penalty case. A child is dead. Her mother did not report her missing and figuratively danced on her grave for a full 31 days before she was reported missing by her grandmother. The rest is history and can be folowed in the tabloids thanks to her parents and defense attorney.

I think the old system of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth is archaic. I've learned that no matter what happens I now know that I don't believe in the death penalty for any one, any where, in any country on this great Earth. This case has made me do a lot of soul searching on this topic. I realize my opinion is completely irrelevant but that's okay. I've learned something important about myself and also acknowledge that God will play a part in the retribution.of every one who has mistreated and exploited this little 2 year old child. God's child.

    July 20, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterTerrytsk

I think Bianca Prieto summed it up. Because Baez didn't keep a lid on information it was like throwing out a challenge to anyone who listened. What Casey said, and her actions, did not make sense. It's human nature to be intrigued by a puzzle and this case had it all, sex, lies, and video tapes. It defied common sense.

July 20, 2011 | Registered CommenterPeggy from PA

You may be right, Patti O. I guess time will tell, but if a judge doesn't unseal it, we may never know.

    July 20, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Hi Terrytsk - I understand the confusion when it comes to states' rights and the death penalty. There's a petition floating around asking that Casey be brought up on federal charges, but it's impossible. That's where states have the power over the US government. However, had Casey taken Caylee across state lines, investigators would have to find out which state the child died in to determine which state would charge her. If one state is pro death penalty and the other is not, it could create a lot of problems. Also, if a not guilty verdict prevails, the US government could step in and charge her again on federal crimes. If a person is taken across state lines, then the US has power. If that makes sense.

I'm against the death penalty for moral reasons. For the life of me, I can't figure out how a person could be against the death penalty, but pro-abortion. On the other hand, I don't understand how a person can be anti-abortion, but for the death penalty. They contradict each other. I think I'll save that argument for another day, though.

    July 20, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

You're right about that, Peggy from PA. This case was like a perfect storm. Everything ingredient came together in one big cauldron for us to stew on.

    July 20, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Watching the fiasco of the defense folks running with their decoy to "toy with the media" is rather sickening. What's the point? Are they creating a bigger media circus in order to get more $$$ for Casey? There is nothing funny about trying to fool people about Casey's whereabouts. Her daughter is dead, and reasonable people know Casey is responsible. It's like Jesse Grund said, now Casey has everything she wanted. It's very, very sad, and Casey is probably enjoying every minute of it.

Dave - How long do you think the defense will put up with babysitting Casey? Bet they never dreamed they would have all this responsibility when they took her case. Can you imagine what their families feel? She's like a millstone around their neck.

July 20, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterK in AZ

Hi K in AZ - It's no secret that Casey's defense, Cheney Mason in particular, can't stand Kathi Belich and WFTV. How ironic that the only station reporting the LIVE! BREAKING STORY!!! was Channel 9. Were they set up? I wouldn't put it past the defense. Almost immediately, the other Orlando stations reported that it wasn't true, that the girl in the jeans and pink shirt was not Casey - a false alarm, in other words. Could it have been pay back time? Probably. The two sides can't stomach each other.

At the same time, any occasion to spread some news about Casey - any news at all - will keep the embers burning, so in the end, the practical joke served two purposes. You'll notice that none of the other stations got stung. There's really bad blood involved.

As for caring for Casey, I'm sure she's safe from harm, but I don't think her defense team is necessarily babysitting her. I'm sure there's a network of friends and relatives (not hers) that are keeping a close watch on her.

Good Morning Dave & Carol, thank you so much for your kind words. It really has been amazing that the kindness of strangers has been my saving grace. I found you & your blog & the great posters by chance & I never left.

My family is shocked that I posted what we are going thru & glad that I have been commenting here with my actual name & city. I am a ridiculously private person. I read alot of different things & NEVER leave comments. My family wants to know why I am so comfortable here. I try to explain that this is a unique blog. No vitriol tolerated, no personal attacks & an array of commenters I can relate to. It really has been a safe haven for me to become more comfortable with the thought of losing my anonymity. Using my first name was a huge step in this process.

I am going to have to go public if I ever have a chance to get my mothers possessions. Her Husband James G. Kennedy, Jr. refuses to follow the law. We are left feeling like my mothers life never existed & my daughter had to beg for a nightgown & a blanket they made together. It is so cruel to my daughter & not necessary. Why keep a 55 year old scrapbook my mother started as a teen? It is like a Tsunami swept my mothers's life away.I am in her estate to receive all her property & trying to get someone served in another country has been an exercise in futility.

I thank you for allowing me to feel safe & empowered. I want people to see the divorcee decree(from NY) the restraining order accusing my family of illicit drug use & causing marItal discord, banning us from her home, generated in TCI. The grounds for her divorce at such a late stage in her life was cruelty & abadonment. NY was the last "fault" state in the country. It is an ugly read & details in length the horror of the last two years of her life. I just want to know why he never hired an attorney, it was like he KNEW she would never leave her home alive. Her doctor Ewan Menzies was given her health proxy, living will etc., directing him to call me first if my mother ever falls ill. The doctor was told by attorney's in NY & TCI in writing & in person. My mother told him point blank she is going thru an ugly divorce & does not want Jim making any medical decisions for her. The last week of her life we spoke everyday as always. My mother relayed to me every day that week that the doctor was in the house & she had no clue why & was very unsetteled with this new activity in the house. My response was to tell her to send him flying and dont let him near her. She said we will be in court in a few days & she was going to let it go because it was almost over. I alerted her NY attorneys to this & They directed me to get there ASAP. Everyone was left unsetteled that court was upon us & Jim had not hired an attorney. My last conversation with her was on Thursday. I was on the phone with my husband on friday telling him we are leaving for the island Saturday when I received a courtesy call late friday from an employee named Roger Norton informing me that my mother was dead. Yes, when I confronted Roger why I am hearing this after the fact i was told this was just a "courtesy" call & hung up on.

I have never been on facebook myspace or you tube. I am leaning towards a page on FB. I would like people to call & email & ask him why he refuses to follow the law, why he never hired an attorney. I want people to know that Ms. Hilda Whittaker the head of CID & the US embassey liason refused to question her husband or doctor. Why in her country there is no concern that a woman is dead 10 days after filing for divorce. It is a huge red flag in this country. We have comity with the UK and I still can not get answers.

Dr. Menzies is a disgrace to the medical profession & needs to be outed. Ms. Hilda Whittaker needs to be outed. There are alot of ex-pats living in that country. People need to know. I never want another family to be going through what we are.

So again I thank you for this forum to let me get my toes wet. This is the bravest thing I have ever done. If not for this experience we all shared I do not think I would be so bold as to go public.

Take care of you, Lisa PNS FL

Lisa PNS FL, I am so sorry that you are going through such a nightmare when you should be grieving and remembering fond memories of the time you spent with your mother. I had a similar situation when my mother died but without the wealth. God does not give us more than we can handle. Stay strong and don't give up. The red tape dealing with another country always boggles my mind. It should be easier. Sometimes you just have to be a fighter. I wish good things for you and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs.

Hi Lisa PNS FL - I'm sorry for what you are going through and I wish I could do something to help. You are certainly free to write about it here, and I would never stop you. You are among friends and your concerns are our concerns. One thing you must keep in mind, though, is that some people on the Internet are not trustworthy. They spend their waking hours doing whatever they can to ruin lives. Many of us have gone through a living hell because of them and I'd hate to see it happen to you. While I'm not going to ask you to change anything, I just want you to be made aware that there are a lot of shady people in the world and they are obsessed with destroying others they don't know. Please keep that in mind. I am concerned for your welfare.

    Dave,

the one thing that worries me is knowing that there was no justice and the death of Caylee will go down in history much like here in Colorado the Jonbenet Ramsey with no one being held accountable for the death of this child. Like the Ramsey case i do believe the mother new and was somehow involved but she's dead which is fitting as i'd argue karma...

I know there are things coming out regarding the computer searches and what not but to me its a moot point. Whether it was once or 84 times there is no explanation to the high levels of chloroform found in the trunk of a car the smelled like a dead body nor the 3 strips of tape found on her skull. Am i bitter...a little bit.

I do appreciate the video link and found it compelling but what i'd hope for is a sit down meeting with the jurors to see what was going through their minds and why they overlooked certain elements and no, not whats come out post conviction about "the prosecution didnt answer the how"...IMO her quilt was proven beyond a reasonable doubt...i'd like to know how exactly did they not conclude it themeselves on how she died?

    $5 mil for an interview - <WTF>

Perhaps I'm being oblivious to the media's motives behind these outrageous offers, but what do they expect to get for their $$$.

Do they think she'll tell the truth? I think not. Will she reveal what happened on June 16th? I think not. When ...some media asshole asks "did you kill Caylee?" Will she say "yes?" I think not.

So what is the fascination about interviewing this killer? The public already has 98% of the facts. Will she shed light on the missing 2%? I think not.

Shut down this fiasco, it's already spinning out of control.

Hi BMan - Many murderers go to their graves without a confession. Casey will never admit to murdering Caylee. She was exonerated in a court of law, but not in the court of public opinion. As I've said before, look at the thousands upon thousands of friendships that have formed, primarily from Internet connections. Caylee has done more good in her short life than could be imagined. No, she'll never grow up to be president, and that is a travesty, but she did not die in vain. Her name will live on in the memories of those who grew to love her.

In 2008, the Boulder District Attorney's Office cleared all Ramsey family members as suspects and officially apologized to them. A year-and-a-half earlier, Patsy went to her grave under suspicion of murder. That's a shame. Their son, Burke, was incriminated, even after showing proof he was in Atlanta at the time. The Boulder police did an incredibly botched job on the case, and that's the stuff they fed the media. In part, the apology letter from DA Mary Lacy said, "... The match of Male DNA on two separate items of clothing worn by the victim at the time of the murder makes it clear to us that an unknown male handled these items. There is no innocent explanation for its incriminating presence at three sites on these two different items of clothing that JonBenét was wearing at the time of her murder. ... To the extent that we may have contributed in any way to the public perception that you might have been involved in this crime, I am deeply sorry."

With regard to Casey, I would bet the farm that Linda Drane Burdick nor anyone else from the State Attorney's Office will ever send an apology letter to her, and rightfully so. As of now, the murder case is closed, but I imagine many will argue for years to come, just like in the Lindbergh kidnapping. Books are still being written, and I just ordered another one from Amazon. That's where I grew up, in Flemington, NJ. That crime was in 1932, almost 80 years ago. The story of Lizzie Borden still perpetuates, and those murders occurred in 1892, almost 120 years ago. I think what happened to Caylee will live on for a long, long time, so in the minds of future generations, so will she. Sad, but true.

    July 21, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Hi bobC - Growing up in rural NJ, the Flemington Fair rolled into town every summer. Along with cotton candy, greasy sausage sandwiches, and lots of rides, there were plenty of exhibitions. It was primarily a 4-H affair, but there were several sideshows off the midway, including Half-man and Frog-man. Half man was a torso and a head. He was born with tiny stubs for arms and legs. Frog-man was a very small guy and he had no elbows or knees to bend his arms and legs, so he had to throw his arm over his shoulder with microphone in hand to speak to us. His voice was very raspy. My point in all this is that with every strange event comes the potential for a carnival barker. What could those two characters do to earn a living? Exactly what they were doing back then. No one else wanted them, and you know something else? Believe it or not, Half-man drove a specially equipped brand new Cadillac. Not too shabby. He and Frog-man traveled the country, making lots of money. That's precisely what those lame "producers" are trying to do with Casey. She's nothing more than a sideshow freak - no insult to Frog-man and Half-man because they earned their money - but that's all she'll ever amount to. She will never be able to get a job. Who would hire her?

One of the peculiarities of the human race is our strange fascination with the macabre. Casey is a real-life horror movie, and someone will pay to hear what she has to say. As toxic as she is, I'm sure there's a market somewhere. And you know something? She'll never be accepted, just like her attorney, Dorothy Clay Sims, refused to answer Joy Behar when asked if she would let Casey babysit her children. Just remember, money cannot buy happiness.

Dear Martha - You know, you brighten up my day every time you come in here and comment, and I really mean that! You will always be my friend, too. It is so obvious you are a genuinely nice person, and I am just as proud to know you, too. Yes, my family is well, thank you, and I hope yours is, as well.

I guess it's about time for me to take a few days off my vacation to write again. I have a few ideas floating around in my head. Meanwhile, THANK YOU for being you!

Dave~~ we cannot bring Caylee back. We cannot undo the 'not guilty' verdict. What we can do is learn from this tragedy. I have no intentions of wasting any of my precious time in wishing harm comes to Casey and her defense team. I think they will take care of that all by themselves.

I do agree that, in the past almost three years, friendships have been made and some special bonds will never be broken. We have seen the good, bad and indifferent and through it all, in some ways, ours lives have been enriched. I know mine has.

Dave I agree with your comment only I'd say it's what those lame "attorneys" are trying to do with Casey. Producers? Hmmm I don't think so, unless it's Todd Black, AKA Gil Cabott, still pulling the strings. Maybe he bought and paid for her back in August of 2008. I agree, she's nothing more then a side freak show. She thinks she's famous and the world is now her oyster. She's in for a rude awakening. I think she's going to find it sucks to be her no matter how much money she makes.

Nope, Snoopy, there's nothing anyone can do for Caylee now except to honor her memory.

There's no doubt about it, we have made friends with lots of people we otherwise would never know about. Along the way, we've gotten to know some very seedy people, too, whose only goal was to destroy others in the sick name of justice for Caylee. What they offered had nothing to do with justice. As law enforcement was quick to point out, the dregs and outcasts of society thrive on this sort of thing. Look at the death threats Casey and her defense are receiving. Even George and Cindy. Does that sound familiar to us?

Still the good outweighs the bad, and in the end, goodness prevails. Caylee did a lot. Too bad she'll never get to enjoy any of it.

For sure, Terrytsk. As much notoriety as Lizzie Borden has gotten over the past 120 years, and despite the fact that she was found not guilty by a jury of her peers, she's still infamous and remembered for only one thing - murdering her parents. The same will prevail for Casey. No one will ever ask her to babysit their children, not even her attorneys, unless she can one day be rehabilitated. Even then...

Casey is still not living in the "real" world because of all the protection and attention she is receiving. At some point, her defense team will wash their hands of her, and then what. She has burned so many bridges, and who, in their right mind, would want to befriend her, other than someone just like her! Casey will never be able to trust anyone completely, a nice taste of her own medicine, and she will need a sizeable income, long-term, just to provide some level of security.

Casey has lead a parasitic lifestyle and has no idea how quickly she will spend away any money she "might" make early on. Casey couldn't dig Caylee's grave, but she has certainly dug her own. She simply doesn't realize it yet and is in for a rude awakening. Hopefully, if and when Casey ever looks at pictures of Caylee, she'll get a twinge of what her life "could have been" had she only truly loved and cared for her daughter.

Hi K in AZ - Casey hasn't been living in the real world for a long, long time. Look at all of her imaginary friends. She created complicated lives, like her own simulated society. You know, there's Farmville on Facebook. In this case, it's Caseyville, starring a cast of hundreds.

It's interesting that you mention that she was too bothered to dig Caylee's grave, but she's done an excellent job of digging her own. How true, but as I've said earlier, I hope no one ever decides to take the law into their own hands. If someone does, I sure hope they're caught, for they're no better than Casey. Murder is murder is murder, although there are differences in which the law looks at them. If someone kills her, that's first-degree murder. Period.

You're right about that, Dave, no one should ever take the law into their own hands. I meant it in the sense of creating a mess for her life, long term, and for everyone connected to her. It's difficult to fathom how one person can so adversely affect others.

Missing Kissimmee boy found safe in Orange County

This woman left her child with a real person, a homeless heroin addict, prior to her arrest but didn't appear to actually know where they were. She was arrested and never told anyone she had a small child that she was responsible for when she was arrested. A homeless heroin addict can hardly care for himself never mind a 4 year old child. He was missing since July 14th! The authorities only knew he was missing because they received a tip the other day. The little boy is safe and sound thank God. I realize that many people have addictions and that doesn't make them bad people. It makes them sick people. He could be a kind, caring person but not someone you would entrust your child's life with! What if he had been a violent person or a pedophile? There is a need for Caylee's Law in some form or another. Children's lives depend on it.

Oh, I wasn't inferring anything about you, K in AZ. I just know what some people have done to me and several of my friends. Online, we have been attacked and threatened unmercifully by the same types of people now threatening Casey, her parents, and her attorneys. All in the name of "Justice for Caylee", as if they are on some sort of mission of empowerment. Cases like this one bring out the narcissists and loonies. Yes, Casey brought them out of the woodwork, but if not her, someone else would fit the bill.

    July 22, 2011 | Registered CommenterDave Knechel

Fortunately for that little boy, Terrytsk, it worked out. Caylee's Law probably wouldn't stop a mother like that one, like Casey, and her child would still be missing days later. Where it would work would be in the end. For instance had this type of law been around in 2008, Casey would have been charged with it. Then, the judge could have, ultimately, sentenced her to the maximum penalty under the law, and Casey would not be free today. She would have been a great example of the law at work, and some people might think twice about not reporting their own child missing. The penalty needs to be severe, too.

    Terrytsk,
Just caught this on the t.v.! I have never been in jail BUT, I am sure that when you are arrested you are asked if you have any children, especially if a woman is arrested for prostution, If the mother was not asked she sure as heck could have told them that she left her child with a HOMELESS HEROIN ADDICT!!!
There are times when I think I must have entered a parallel universe. The way that we get instant news of all things great and horrid is starting to make me wish for a little less technology in life.

Dave, am sure looking forward to where you will take us with your writing when you post again. You have schooled a lot of us in some of the intricacies of the law while covering the Caylee story.

You have demonstrated how a true professional should handle reporting the facts of a very high profile case. You kept your own personal opinions from overtaking your self control while still making it abundantly clear how you viewed the evidence and what verdict should be rendered.

Thanks to many people that have posted on your blog I was able to shed some of the anger and rage that I felt when the verdicts were read. I now see that as my grandmother used to say, "Every dog has it's day", so will casey. She will not have it easy, thankfully. And she can never "go back" to her former life where she was supported by her parents, where she had friends, and never a need to get a job, She will forever be labeled as a thief, a liar and a child murderer. Nice going, casey!!
